The confusion comes from the fact that some people have to follow the rules and others don't.

I have had posts deleted with no explanation of why and I know they never contained personal insults or verbal attacks on other members. When they were deleted, I couldn't even fathom an explanation as to why they would have been deleted. Yet, there are entire threads whose sole purpose is to attack other members and they are left up and even joined in on by admin/mods.

Here's my take on it and I could be entirely wrong.

At times we quote a distasteful post. The original post and your post that quoted that distasteful quote had to be deleted.

At times MOD/ADMIN may leave up an attacking poster's post for educational purposes......

They also have to do a fine balancing act and look at history of posters; the possibility of having to delete one poster would force them to delete another poster (for the pure fact of how it is percieved by the membership)....so, when they look at it; to save one they have to save the one that is the culprit.

You entirely missed the point of this thread, Elissa. This thread exists to explain exactly what you're confused about above.

Also, you don't see the PMs behind the scenes that are forwarded to us where members might be attacking or harassing other members. If you did see those, you have might have a whole different view of what people say when it's not said in public.

Your posts don't have to contain a verbal attack or personal insult to be deleted and it clearly states this in YT rules.

I'm not really sure how to explain things to you further than this -- we don't live in a black and white world and won't make 63,000+ human beings agree on our decisions at all times - nor is that our goal. If you have further questions or comments, I'd suggest you PM Admin directly. Thanks.
