I have had posts deleted with no explanation of why and I know they never contained personal insults or verbal attacks on other members. When they were deleted, I couldn't even fathom an explanation as to why they would have been deleted. Yet, there are entire threads whose sole purpose is to attack other members and they are left up and even joined in on by admin/mods. |
I was glad to see this - I had totally forgot posting about my speeding ticket NON experience in this thread :) Ann - you have a tough job |

At times we quote a distasteful post. The original post and your post that quoted that distasteful quote had to be deleted. At times MOD/ADMIN may leave up an attacking poster's post for educational purposes...... They also have to do a fine balancing act and look at history of posters; the possibility of having to delete one poster would force them to delete another poster (for the pure fact of how it is percieved by the membership)....so, when they look at it; to save one they have to save the one that is the culprit. |

Also, you don't see the PMs behind the scenes that are forwarded to us where members might be attacking or harassing other members. If you did see those, you have might have a whole different view of what people say when it's not said in public. Your posts don't have to contain a verbal attack or personal insult to be deleted and it clearly states this in YT rules. I'm not really sure how to explain things to you further than this -- we don't live in a black and white world and won't make 63,000+ human beings agree on our decisions at all times - nor is that our goal. If you have further questions or comments, I'd suggest you PM Admin directly. Thanks. :) |

You know I totally love and respect you mods... but I do have to say, I wonder these days about why certain people post nastiness here over and over again, with apparently no repercussions. To continue the analogy, it's like seeing someone breeze by you 50 miles over the speed limit every day, and the traffic cop does nothing. When I say I wonder, I do genuinely mean that I don't understand. I can believe there's a lot going on behind the scenes, but it does feel different to me than it has before. I don't know. It seems like others feel the same way, so I don't feel like I'm just totally crazy. Then again, other disagree, so yeah.... :idontknow |

With all due respect Ann, rule #2 says otherwise - or is there another place in the rules that discusses this? And all Armani was asking was why her posts were deleted if she didn't break the rules - she didn't ask about someone else's. Quicksilver... you are not the only one wondering about this - some of mine have been deleted and I've wondered why especially when others before and after mine were way out of line. |

I agree, Ann you have a very tough job. You are very fair and balanced. Keep up the good work girl! :) |

Ann states there is no black and white the rules are basic guideline. I've PM'd asking questions on how or why MOD or ADMIN did something. They do attempt to be fair, but then life isn't always fair..... I do get tired that things have changed and they probably have. Some things for the good of YT and the dogs. People flying under the radar, posting inuendos but not actually attacking. My opinion is, well good for them, they're following the rules. They've learned how to do this. Bottom line ADMIN and MOD call the shots, and this post was put in place to explain why they do what they do. To give us an understanding, not to complain about this and that. And as an has stated if you have questions an action, PM her. What I have learned is not to call her or Admin out in public....not a great way to argue your cause. |

IMO....the bickering and attacking have been here since I joined. But, I do see that the members have become more educated and are willing to speak up when they see things aren't right and in the best interest of the dog. |
I was gone for a couple of months so I may see things differently than others who have been here every day. I see alot of negativity on the forum now since Ive been back. Judging from the number of people who have left and the number who are disgruntled they are seeing it too. People on here justify it by saying they speak their mind, that they arent saying anything they wqouldnt say yo someones face etc. Opinions can be given with some compassion with them. They dont have to be so harsh all the time. Now I now there are some situations where the situation is so reprehensible it may require a harsher response but most dont. Most can be given with some understanding or compassion.. Ann did a thread asking for just that so I dont see what more her or Admin can because people stop just short of name calling so they dont get suspended. The change needs to come from the members. We need to have compassion like Ann has asked for |

This usually resulted in the officer asking me where I was from in England, and a "be careful next time" warning :D |
I just wanted to say one more thing then Ill let it go. MY Husband used to be a commissioner for a childrens hockey league and he used to say you had to be careful of what you say and what you because connected to every chikld was 2 parents. Well behind every dog on here is a owner that is a human being. We shouldnt get so caught up in helping the dog that we forget aboutr the human being that is the owner. Again compassion |

Armani did not ask about anyone else's posts - she asked what she had/was doing wrong for her post to be deleted. If she didn't quote a bad post, if she wasn't attacking another member - then what did she do wrong? That's all she was asking - what's wrong with that? As far as complaining goes.... I think we know where to find that. Chachi - I'm with you on this one. |
For anyone needing further clarification about how decisions are made here, please go back and read Post #1. Thanks :). Also, please see Rule #4, under Personal Interactions - here is a portion of it: The duration/type of all consequences are at the discretion of the admin and moderators and are dependent upon each members' individual situation, the details of which are not shared with the community. For those wanting to see more positivity on YT, my suggestion would be to focus on being more positive. For those who choose to be negative and try to spread that to others, that is your choice. YOU are creating who you are, not us. YOU are responsible for your behavior, and we will moderate posts and threads at our discretion. It is also every member's choice as to whether YT is a good fit for them. This is Admin's board and we are all guests here. |
Thank you Ann, and Admin As I near my 6th year anniversary here at YT, I would like to thank Ann for this thread. I sincerely love YT and respect the fact that it is privately owned and that I am a guest here. I respect the fact that the Owners and Admin have selected Moderators to help keep the forum on track. THANK YOU, ADMIN FOR ALLOWING ME TO BE A PART OF THIS WONDERFUL FORUM, and THANK YOU ANN FOR YOUR UNTIRING EFFORTS TO KEEP YORKIETALK ON TRACK! I was here when YT had less than 200 members and it was a good day when there were half that many posts. We were a small group of individuals spread out over the world who shared our love and dedication to our beloved Yorkies. We had tolerance and respect for differing opinions. For the most part we understood the concept that most of us were "right" even though we did things differently. That there wasn't a single right or wrong way to deal with most situations. Each of us found what worked for us and respected the fact that others did the same. Not only that we were eager to learn from each other -- from the least to the most experienced. As YorkieTalk grew and the membership became more diverse, small cliques would form (I was part of many of them :D). These cliques didn't have "an agenda" we were small groups of individuals that shared special bonds and friendships that included common interests outside of our love of Yorkies. Phone numbers were exchanged, long hours of fun and laughter and silliness were spent in the Chat room with the Admins and Mods -- we were a tight group of friends who genuinely respected and cared about each other. As YorkieTalk's membership grew more we would have the occasional un-civil, aggressive members who had to prove that everyone else was wrong so that they could be right. Most of those folks either mellowed or simply went away. The most destructive newbies, however, were/are the naive ones, who were/are clueless about the dynamics of large groups of people. They would take comments and opinions at "face value" without taking the time to understand the players and long standing relationships, "inside jokes" and the reasoning behind the views of members and groups of members. I have not been as active lately as I once was -- I honestly believe that even though YT is the best Yorkie forum on the Internet, it is at an all time low. It is so disheartening to see so many members (oldies but goodies and newbies alike) quarreling, taking sides and ganging up on others and leaving. I am "dog-tired" of the "I am just blunt and who cares who it hurts" comments and attitude. So many have forgotten that with rights come responsibilities - we have the right to express our opinions and we are responsibile for the end result of exercising those rights. Maybe the problem is even worse - maybe people just don't care anymore :( When there is an "issue" on the public side of the forum, more often than not the Admins and Ann the Mod are dealing with pm\'s, emails, phone calls, etc. It must be a monumental task to put their human-ness aside and remain unbiased. While I don\'t always agree with the rulings, I have confidence that the decisions forthcoming are what those in authority believe to be the best interest of YorkieTalk. :yorkietal LONG LIVE YORKIETALK! :yorkietal |
This is a prime example of how a positive thread can get a negative vibe so very quickly. I think Admin./Moderators do a great job and without them, there wouldn\'t be a YT! |
