5 weeks ?? to me the guy has know idea what he is doing , totally uneducated . Sad thing about this one is that their are people out there that will buy from him , being cluelss how dangerous this is for such a tiny , young baby .

According to www.animallaw.info, Oregon doesn't have any such law. It appears that only 18 states do.

And when he said that he and his wife thought it would be "fun" to breed them made me so angry - like he was playing a game. He has a 2.5 year old 3lb female for sale (which I believe he said had 1 litter) and a male listed in the same paper. He said he and his wife are looking to retire - sounds to me that they found it wasn't as much "fun" as they thought and are looking to get out of it. But when he said he always let the puppies go anywhere between 5 and 7 weeks totally floored me. What an idiot!!!

This is so awful! FIVE WEEKS old???!!!!

Puppies are no where near ready to be taken away from their Mom at that age. There are ALOT of important things the puppies will not learn as a result of taken away so young.

And then the new owners of the puppies as a result may or may not encounter some very serious problems that they may not know how to handle. Especially when it comes to their health, knowing the signs of hypoglycemia. Scarey!

I am praying this couple will definitely be completely out of breeding.

Maybe they have been turned in, in the past also by those that have brought home puppies so young. The area Humane Society needs to step in and shut this breeder down.

After what I saw Chippy go through at 7 weeks old, I can't imagine bringing a 5 week old puppy home without the mother. Sick, sick, SICK!

From what he said he and his wife had 2 or 3 females (I was at work and had a hard time sneaking in the call), I really wasn't interested in his "story" - I mostly wanted him to know that taking a puppy from it's mom at that age was unacceptable! Anyway - he said "They all wound up pregnant at the same time"! This little 5 week old was the only puppy born to the mom, so he must have several females. But he did say that they had thought it would be "fun" to breed them. Now whether he intended to only breed one and the others were accidental (which would be just plain irresponsible) I don't know. When I confronted him with selling them so young he said he has sold about 12 puppies all between 5 and 7 weeks. He did invite me over to see them (little did he know I'm on the other side of the country), and that if I was interested he would put me in contact with his vet. The good news (if there is any) is that he told me he's selling a female and a male - so hopefully he's done. The female he's selling is 2.5 years old and under 3 lbs. I believe he told me she was bred once. Isn't that aweful small to be bred or is that acceptable?

Three lbs is not only unacceptable it is dangerous and irresponsible! This guy sounds like a real gem. I can't even imagine what happened to the puppies from a 3 lb mom that were sold off at 5 to 7 weeks old. I'm sorry but it is things like this that make me just want to cry or possibly hit someone But since I am a nice and kind hearted person I usually just cry.
