| Do some puppies NOT get hypoglycemia? Okay so, Seeker is 9.5 weeks, broken foot, going strong No really, he was eating wet food and this am, i brought him down from our room put a 1/4 of his Nutro Natural in the bowl, and he ate. maybe a 1/4 of it, but he was there eating. then he pooped on his pad. So here is my question, how much food should a 1.6pd puppy be eating? should i still buy Nutrical and have it just in case, or should i be givingit to him regularly?thanks. |

No Longer a Member | Rizzo doesn't have it, but I didn't bring him home until 14 weeks old and I only give him a pea size drop once a day, but thats just cause he doesn't eat much, and I'd rather be safe than sorry. So hopefully someone with exp. with the younger pups can help you out. |

| yeh i cant believe he should be with his mom still. i feel so bad. supposly he was one of the last ones not sold too, at exactly 9 weeks, so his brothers and sisters must have been sold at like 7 weeks. im soooo thankful to have found you all on YT. i have become so educated and such a better yorki owner. |

| Precious is 9 weeks old, almost 9 1/2 weeks and I stopped giving her NutriCal. She's 2lbs 5 oz at her 8 wk appointment. I give her the dry kibble all day as recommended by the vet until she's 12 weeks old then 2 x a day thereafter. If she's not hungry or not eating well then I'll give her a pea size amount to be safe. I give her about 1/4-1/2 cup of dry Halo and she eats that in one day.

| The bag I have says 1/4-1/2 a cup. I got Precious at an age WAY too young (I know better now) and she would barely eat 3 tablespoons (she was on wet food then) I had to force feed her. She hated it so I asked the vet if I could try dry kibble and as soon as I switched she gobbled it up like she'd never eaten in her life. I make sure I give her treats throughout the day when she "goes" outside as well. She also has water available at all times. As long as your puppy is "your" puppy and doesn't seem lethargic and is eating the recommended amount of food I'm sure it'll be ok. BUT I am not a vet and of course any concerns you have please don't hesitate to call

| Oh and what made me feel better was that if she is pooping and peeing regularly then I know she's getting enough in her system. Otherwise she'd be dehydrated and not go..

All foods are formulated differently. Check the instructions on the bag for general guidelines. Yes, you should have Nutrical in your house for the entire time you own a Yorkie. Better safe than sorry. You could feed him 4 times a day, and cut back to 3 times a day at 12 weeks. More about this in the Library....
