| Bathing Sophie Hi everyone! My name is Bessie and my yorkie's name is Sophie she's 10 mos old and very beautiful and a wonderful companion. My question is about how often to bathe her. Within a few days she becomes very oily and scratches continuously. Right now I bathe her every two weeks but when I do that it washes all of the flea medication out. then she's unprotected until the next month. How often can she get bathed. We live in Louisiana and due to the heat and humidity I have to worry about the fleas, etc when she is unprotected. I need some help from those of you who I'm sure have encountered the same problem. Thanks,Bessie E. |

| I bath my Sofia at least once a week sometimes more if she starts to smell. Her hair is long so sometimes she gets pee on it and we have to wash it off or she can't sleep with us, no pee in the bed. As for fleas, maybe you should talk to your vet. I know there are once a month treatments that you can use that do not wash away in the bath. |

| Hi, I'm also from Louisiana (Lake Charles). I use an Oatmeal shampoo and bathe once a week. The topical flea medicine I use lasts for one month. I assume it absorbs into the skin and then into their systems. So after a couple of days she's okay to have a bath. My vet said when and IF she gets to five pounds there is an oral pill she can take for fleas. Hope this helps Oh and welcome

| Hi and Welcome to YT! My Cerise will be 10 months on the 26th and she weighs less than 4lbs. She takes Sentinel (brown) once a month for fleas and heartworms and we live in TX where fleas and mosquitos are a serious problem. So far she hasn't had any problems. Your baby is old enough to take Sentinel (brown) Also what brand of Oatmeal soap are you using? Some may have oatmeal in them but still have chemicals that are harsh on a Yorkies skin. I use a liquid soap that is castile/olive oil base and I bathe Cerise once a week. It's very humid here too and she needs that weekly bath. The liquid soap is non-drying and great on sensitive skin and the Yorkie hair. It's called Dr. Bonner's Baby Mild Liquid Soap I recommend it to everyone that has a scratching Yorkie because it is fabulous! If you don't have a health food grocery store that sells it in your area you can order it online. If you are sceptical get the smallest bottle and try it
