...I had only heard the b-yoo-ers pronunciation and after coming on YT learned the Biva pronunciation. I for the life of me have the hardest time saying Biva for some reason.

B-yoo-ers is stuck in my brain too.

Well now I can go to sleep at 2 in the afternoon and I have learned something today!! I have been advocating and advertising the particolored Yorkshire Terrier and even mentioning the Biewer (b-yoo-er) for a few years now in this Way North state O mine...LOL..

never gave it a thought that I was pronouncing it all wrong. So to my cousin Biewer (BIVA) pals I am so sorry. Not sure I will be able to convince my brain otherwise at this point.

I just think these dogs are so striking and beautiful that particolored Yorkie/Biewer or whatever they are called hopefully in my lifetime will be walking in the ring at an AKC dog show.
Whenever someone sees mine on the street walking with a standard or 2 they have to stop and ask. I educate and educate....change happens with one person at a time...

I know the correct pronunciation but seem to slip up sometimes as well.
Live in a fairly large city and get the same thing, people are always asking what kind of dog she is. Am pretty sure she is the only biewer here.

I was told to watch these videos on how to pronounce *Biewer*. They're by a German woman, and just hilarious to watch - she keeps saying "You're a Biva like Diva." They're where I learned they weren't called b-yoo-ers.

Most of us in the beginning said "beavers" instead of "bivas"..I still do from time to time. I just say they are a Yorkshire Terrier from Germany.

Well I think she is saying "beaver" most of the time she is putting a "r" at the end.

I thought it sounded like there was an "r" at the end, too. So, I went from calling them b-yoo-ers, to calling them beavers, and now I call them biva's (or I try to anyway).

I get asked everytime I am out with Brody. I say that he is a Ba-Vay Yorkie and people just look at me like I am wierd~!

The first few times someone asked & I answered that Maddox was a Biewer Yorkie, they looked at me like "Yeah, right. Whatever."

That is the way I have been reading it for the past year: b-yoo-ers....and I have studied German. Duh! In my defense, I have never met a Biewer in person. Do they have German accents?

the way I explain the twins is I tell them they are a Biewer (Be-vair) Yorkie that originated in Germany around 1984.
I love saying the Be-vair because when I speak German, (only know a couple words, teehee) Nappy does all sorts of funny things with his ears, its soooo CUTE!!! I think he remembers the language

If they ask "what are they mixed with?

" then I go into the history as I understand it

and the eyes start to glaze over, lol
