| Attention attention attention Sorry for the title ...Ok I've had my Auti for 6mos now and she is the GREATEST I couldn't ask for a better babygirl. All my friends and family LOVE her to death so as you probably can guess SHE IS SPOILED ROTTEN!!!! She's GREAT with potty training both in doors and out just about right from the beginning, she's not a barker (only when someones at the door or interruptn her Zzzzz's such a DIVA) she's just so PERFECT(ok almost perfect)...Ok so the only problem I have with her is she loves ATTENTION...when we go out for walks we're usually stopped by ppl wanting to pet, talk, hug, hold whatever possible to her..which some times a 30min stroll can turn out to be a 2hr show (we always joke we're gonna start charging) I do mind sometimes because its usually a day that I have to get to work but want her to get her daily exercise....OK the REAL problem here is even when we're just walkn in our complex to potty or just a light stroll ppl will walk by and wont pay her attention and she will try to run up on them and jump up on them and its beginning to be a PROBLEM..not everyone likes dogs (whether they're cute n small or cute n big) and I'm pulln her away from them but she seems to want to get their attention even more when she knows their not payn attenton to her...it doesnt matter who what or where if ppl are NOT oohing and ahhing over her she tends to make them notice her one way or the other...I try to correct her as it happens by pickn her up or walking in another direction telln her no but it seems like its just fuel for the fire...Sorry for the long story but...is Anyone else going thru the same thing?

| She sounds just precious. Mine is sort of that way, but she won't run up to them. She will walk over by people and if they don't pay attention to her, then she will simply walk away. I call them "attention hogs." My girl is a little bit more shy with strangers, so it isn't a problem. I hope someone can help you. You are right. Everyone doesn't like dogs.

| Whenever I walk my dogs and someone is walking the towards us, I pull the leash in so they're close to me. If the people want to stop and pet them fine, if not, then we keep walking and the dogs can't reach them.

| I pull the leash in as well, so that they are close to me. But then again a lot of people want to pet them. Most of the time I don't mind if people pet them but I don't let anyone pick them up. Most people really just want to tell them how cute they are and that's even better.

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | Have you worked with a good obedience trainer? She should be walking with you and not pulling away. Her focus should be on you during the walk. Then it will be your call as to whether she can greet someone else or not. It's hard work, but so worth it in the end. |

YT 1000 Club Member | I also pull the leash in when I see anyone coming our way. I just keep her close and keep on walking. With the harness you should be able to really keep a firm hold and keep on walking and gently talking to her. I did also see on Dog Whisperer once where the owners couldn't take the dog out for a walk because of that same problem. They had people they knew (but the dog didn't know) help. They walked with a dog towards them, when the dog in training would start getting all excited they would make it turn and walk the opposite direction. They kept doing that until the dog calmed down. Not sure if it works for all but it worked on the show!
