| Furbutts = LOVE Donating Member Moderator | I paid $600 for Wylie and $1500 for Marcel - and there is a world of difference in their breeding. But, not a world of difference in how much I love them both!

| I've had yorkshires for over 20 yrs. Breeding to impove and keeping from my own line I started with.. My pups range in size from 2# to 10# as adults.. Most stay in the 4-7# range.. I don't like to see tinny yorkies going to families with children.. They should be in an adult home only.. They are just too frail.. I feel a much nicer dog is the one 5-7# as they are most likly to have a stronger constitution. I've only had one with a little low blood sugar and that's Bumbie.. Tinny tea's as they call them should not be reg at all.. or only with limited reg as there are idiots out there that will try to breed them.. I get those calls numerous times a yr.. Wanting to breed their tinny female to one of my males.. I don't breed out side dogs as I bought my males for my own use to improve my dogs and don't want to expose my dogs to any out side crap!. As to all yorkies having baby doll faces is not true.. I see those long nosed ones all the time the head is out of balance with the nose being too long.. More like a Silky T. I like the face to be balanced and that's what I breed for.. I don't like the faces too short and people that breed that run into bad bites.. I breed the total dog as to teeth health and longevity and personalities.. I do not like hyper dogs.. I would not have one if they were like that.. I have 11 right now and 2 are neutered males that are the great grand sire and sire and grand son Bumbie. All the same line ranging in age from 3 to 16yrs old. If a breeder can give you back ground info as to these things it's worth the extra money to me as to pricing.. If you ask about the health of the parents and they don't know.. You could be letting yourself in for a long and hard lesson and many vet bills to keep your baby alive. Anyone having more than one breed that is selling pups is a MILL..You can spend your life as I have on one breed and still see things you'd like to add to your line.. I don't asked anymore for a 3# dog than a larger one as the 3# dog will alway be a special care dogs do to it's size. The most fun dogs are the larger ones as they can play rough house with kids and have a more normal life. My pricing is from 800 to 2000.00 for a breeding size female.. All others are sold limited AKC reg.. pet only.. Last edited by Rosie 1; 06-22-2007 at 12:14 PM. |

| I have 5 furbabies...my very first baby Miko I bought from a breeder for $350, he was 7 wks. old; my second baby Kylie I bought for $650, she was 8 wks. old. My next two babies, Prissie & Might, came at the same time within a day of each other both from the same breeder that I purchased Miko from, they were both adult yorkies at the time; I paid $500 for each. My last baby, Max, is actually from a litter my Miko and Prissie had. I only breed Miko and Prissie once a year, three times so far. I will breed her again this summer for the last time. I charge $650 for my babies. I never have to advertise, the new owners are all personal friends so I still get to see my little babies and even get to puppysit for them when their new mommies need me to. My babies do come pre-spoiled as I do let them come out of their area and run around the house when they are around 5 wks. old. I don't let my babies go till 8 wks as the earliest and mostly because I know where they are going. I think if I ever sold to someone I didn't know I would probably not let them go till 10 or 12 wks. My babies have all been under 4 lbs at adult; except my Maxy, he is my exception, he was 4.3 lbs at 4 1/2 months old. Miko and Prissie are both 4.5 lbs. |

| If the pedigree does not have a few champions in the line the puppies are not worth more than a 1000 dollars. Its funny to read on some of the breeders that they do it to better the breed. If they were doing it for this they would spay or neuter all their puppies before being sold. By selling puppies to people without this being done they are not a responsible breeder, because the new owners will breed their dog just to have a litter of puppies and dont care about the breed. Prices have gotten crazy and its because everyone wants one. Thats fine supply and demand. But when I read on here constantly about "my dog is sick and he weighs 3 lbs and paid 2000 dollars for him and now I have to pay 1500 for vet bills and I dont know what to do." read how many dogs on here get sick and need specialized care. and it seem to be always the ones that were alot of money to buy. Think about it.

I don't think it's responsible to alter a puppy at 12 weeks....am I wrong? I don't think that your statement applies to all responsible breeders. Also, you may not show in confirmation if your dog has been altered. So, I see several legitimate reasons not to spay or neuter prior to adoption. I DO agree that it seems like some of the most expensive puppies are the ones with the most serious health issues, but I haven't seen any research on that.
