We put Angus in the kennel when we go away. He has playtime where he plays with toys and is taken for walks etc. They feed him and take good care of him, they have access to our vet if they should need him. Angus is always happy when I pick him up and take him home, but they take very good care of him and I call home and access my number to see if there are any messages, also on my cell phone. | |

| When our Yorkie was 4 months old, we had to go on a previously booked ski trip. I left with a friend for 4 days and was sooo nervous. It worked out great though. Even after he peed and pooped all over her house. You just need someone you can trust. We're planning a longer vacation this September and plan on leaving with my husband's parents. They love our pupster and are excited to have a pet after their 19-yr-old kitty passed. Even though they're 4 hours away, we're still going to make the trip cause that's where he'll be happiest. I think if we didn't have that option, we would leave with a friend and then 3rd option have someone come to the house a couple times a day. Putting in a kennel seems mean, but then again, I've never done it and have no idea what it's like. Good luck! |

| we were discussing that today that we will bring the ex-pen just in case. I just don't put Pixie in it except when noone is home and to separate her and Daisy when they eat. So if Pixie and Gidget don't get along I think Pixie will be miserable in the ex-pen but I guess it is better than a dog fight!! Last year my daughter use to have an american bulldog and we brought Daisy and stayed with my daughter bc Daisy and Gidget love each other. Anyways Daisy did not like Duke bc he kept trying to bite at her legs and would not leave her alone. Well...........1 hr before we were getting ready to go home. I was packing the car and I hear OH GOD NO and then I heard Fighting and I ran in the living room and Duke had pounced on Daisy and Daisy was SCREAMING horrid sound. I picked her up and her elbow was out to the side. I immediately knew it was dislocated and We rushed her to the animal hospital. They had to sedate her to re-set it and she was in a sling for three weeks! I felt bad for her I sat in the back with her and pet her the whole way home. She was whining the whole way home. we stopped halfway and slept at a hotel and I went to cracker barrel and asked them if they could boil up some chicken for me and they did bc I told them what happened. They were very accommodating. It was a horrible end to our vacation and I really don't want any thing like that to happen ever again. They no longer have Duke they re-homed him to a woman who has no children and two large dogs and she has an acre of land. He just had way to much energy for my daughters family. Gidget did not like Duke either she use to hide from him bc he would pounce on her. I am surprised he never hurt her.

| I'm fortunate in that I have my dad with me. He always watched our poodle when we went away. But she was older and very well trained. Charlie is still a puppy and I think might be too much for my dad (he's 82). And Charlie definitely prefers females. I have a friend who has a 7-month old, maybe a bichon. They get along great. She'd probably take Charlie for me. I need to think about this since I have a week vacation coming up in August. I don't think I could bring myself to board him somewhere. A friend I work with hired someone to come in several times a day and walk, feed and play with her dogs. It worked out really well for her. |
