| just wanted to let you know about Command 3M brand hooks. They stick on the wall and when you are done you can remove them with no damage to the wall. They are fabulous and strong enough to hold Christmas wreaths, bathrobes, etc. I once decorated an entire school with them(for their Christmas fair). I would use them on the wall next to the door versus hanging the bells on the door, this way you won't have confusion when just opening the door. You can buy them at any drug store, Target or Walmart. Good Luck! |

| My older dog is bell trained, we are still working on the new one! We went to Michaels and got a large bell and used thin ribbon to hang it with. We only take the dogs out of one door, so we put the bell by that door. Basically, here is what we did... We put a little peanut butter on the bell and waited for Jaxon to go up to it. I put him in the area and he went right to it and made it ring. After he rang it, we immediately scooped him up, told him "potty outside" and then took him out. When we came back in, we cleaned off the bell. Anytime he rang it, he went out. He quickly realized that the bell means outside. You really have to be consistent though, every time it rings for the first week or so, take them out. There is only ONE problem with the bell, and I saw another poster wrote this. If your dog loves to be outside they'll link the bell with outside, or as mine does, link it with attention. What we do, is as soon as Jaxon rings the bell, we take him out. If he doesn't potty we bring him in and crate him. He learned that ringing the bell is for potty only. We've had good luck so far with him, but our little girl prefers to just come tell us she has to go potty! Good Luck!! |

| I love this idea but what happens if Diji has to be alone at home while I'm at varsity? Do I leave him in my room with his paper and hope he uses them? All he seems to be doinging lately is tear them up while I'm out. I understand he is distressed when I am away but what can I do? Sorry for hijacking the thread. |

| Mine is bell-trained. I wouldn't trade them for the world.

| Our doggy bells are the best thing that ever happened to Lucas' potty training. Lol. They hang on the door knob, and since he learned how to shake a paw long before we got them, we trained him to hit them with his paw and it works soo well. Definitely recommend to train this way

Yorkie Yakker | wow Does this REALLY work? I have tried EVERYTHING to get my lil girl to tell me she has to go out! She is my first Yorkie! Well first small dog ever! We have a Boxer Pit mix and she can hold it for hours on end but Henesey and I are at a battle and I think Im losing! I thought potty training was easy! It took us two weeks with Princess! I have had Henesey for 7 months and I feel like im getting no where! How does this work? Im willing to try anything to get her back on track!

| Yep, the service bell works for us. I introduced it to Bailey while potty training. Whenever we caught Bailey in-the-act of peeing in the house - we scooped her up, took her paw to the bell and said 'outside'. It gets a ton of laughs when we have company - ppl can't believe that it works! Good luck!!

| in case you haven't gotten a bell yet...I've seen them at walmart in the pet section..i'm not sure how they hook up, but i'm pretty sure you don't need to nail it into the wall or anything...it sorta looked like there could have been a little stand for it or something.
