| My puppy is a killer!!!! My sweet baby! awwwww Welllll.... the kids found a chipmunk (we think the back legs were damaged) and they had it in a styrofoam cooler. The dogs knew it was there and kept going back to it, so I finally said let them just see it and they will leave it alone! So we showed them and Fletcher DIVED in and grabbed the poor thing. He did 3 laps around the car before we got it from him, but it died sometime during it's time in his mouth! Poor thing! He was sooo proud of himself though! The only animal he EVER caught was one that was practically handed to him, lazy dog! LOL

| Kacee might have done the same thing. I remember when she was a puppy she found a baby bunny that I couldn't see in my mums and I saw her looking down into them and suddenly she reached down and bit it. It ran off squealing and left on the brick under Kacee's mouth was a quarter size of rabbit fur and skin attached. Ouch! That had to hurt so much.

| I know. It's hard to think that our sweet little babies can be little killers! There is mommy bird in my yard with a nest of eggs. I hope one of those little baby birds do not fall out! |

| I can feel your pain. We had a baby bunny over the winter that all 3 of mine cornered. It tried to get away but got stuck in the fence They might be adorable but they are still hunters.

| My mom has pet rabbits and when we go over there Pann tries to get into the cages and eat them! My mom opened the cage one time and he went straight in on attack mode luckily no one got hurt but there's been no more open cages when pann's around!

| 3 days ago Zeus found a bird on the ground. He grabbed it and started shaking it. He killed it eventually. |

| Yup, Bailey is just drooling to get his jaws on my parakeet, he would kill her in a second if he could catch her!..Yet they look so sweet and innocent, looks are deceiving!

| Remember our babies' ancestors were bred for hunting rats? Our breeder told us to be careful if we've smaller animals like rabbits at home. She found her Yorkies killing a small chicken and a rabbit before. I've no doubt my sweet little Sandy will do the same too. He's already doing it with his toys |

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Each of mine caught baby birds in mid air - seperate times but I noticed they they didn't try to kill - just ran around the yard with them thinking they had a real live squeaky toy - freaked me out - the birds didn't make it - but it's instinct - |

I felt sooo bad for the kids, but Fletch was such a proud boy for that little bit I could not stop laughing at his attitude and prance! The kids probably think I'm the biggest meanie in the world! I told the kids, well now we know, no matter how cute or small they are, they are still DOGS and have the instincts.

| Last summer all three of my girls had a hand in the demise of two baby rabbits. I'm not sure why, but these bunny mothers keep making nests in our rose bushes and under our deck. Three dogs and a fenced in yard and they keeping make our yard their home! They were so little and they all picked them up. They didn't viciously attack them, but since they were small, just carrying them was enough. I really think they thought it was one of their stuffed animals they carry around 24/7. When I told them to drop, they all did and looked at it like they didn't know what it was. Two others we rushed to the vet and he was able to save one and turn it over to a wildlife rescue! I know it's instinct, but I still cried for those little bunnies!

Donating YT 4000 Club Member | As cute as they are, they were bred to be hunters. I have no doubt that Rhett would kill something small if he got ahold of it; he has a really strong "terrier shake" move.

| don't feel bad you had no way of knowing he would kill it. last summer Gatsby and my moms pug Suzie wear playing out on my moms back deck and a squirrel, a full grown squirrel came onto the deck to eat the dog food and Suzie had been chasing this squirrel off for weeks my mom said but then when Gatsby came to play they cornered it and killed it we felt so bad because we knew it come on the deck and let it go we did nothing to stop it i was horrified but my dad laughed because at the time Gatsby weighed only just under 5 pounds and Suzie has only one eye but the two of them still took down a 8 pound squirrel with two good eyes, plenty of claws and the ability to jump on the railing and get free.
