![]() All of the above, plus I wanted something small this time - something I could wash in the kitchen sink (because bending over the tub is too hard anymore), and the smaller size also means less food, less (ahem!) "cleanup", less expense on monthly meds, and treats go a lot further! Yorkies are nothing short of PERFECT. One other thing: My husband was subject to seizures before he passed; Bella could smell the change in his blood chemistry or whatever and she'd start to bark and nip him before he seized. It gave him enough time to take extra meds. Then she went back to just giving him kisses.

| ![]() I personally like all dogs and cats and would have many breeds if I had the space. My husband is lucky I don't have 5 acres in the country! We live in a very small home and little yard and that is what started me out with a Chihuahua. That love grew and I ended up with several. One day my husband who is a mobile diesel mechanic was out working on a big ranch and the owners dog was so cute and friendly that he had to stop and play with him. He would fetch for days! Anyway my hubby came home telling me about this dog. He doesn't know breeds from shinola. When he described him I realized he was describing a Yorkie. I had always wanted a Yorkie when I was younger but never had the $$$ to get one. Anyway over a 3 year period we kept talking about the Yorkies and the rest is history. I caught the hubby in a weak moment and he let me get another dog and our Bella came into our lives. We have had her now for about 5 weeks and she is a wonderful addition to the family. She is small enough to mingle well with the Chihuahua's and yet has a distinctive difference. By the way I am glad I didn't get her when I was younger because when I had children it might have become tiresome to keep her bathed and groomed. They do take upkeep, but at my age now (over 50) I don't begrudge the time it takes to take care of her.

![]() They are like little pieces of scotch tape who want to be wherever I am...I will call Paris at times and realize she is right behind me! They have the biggest personalities like little humans stuffed in doggie bodies! My friend Kim has a little 2.5lb 5 year old yorkie girl (Nina) and I swear Rachel McAdams from "mean girls" got stuffed in her body! She thinks she is the bees knees for sure and makes us laugh! Will continually snub people all the time! They understand english perfectly! My sister's 5 year old yorkie Ross can understand perfectly what she is saying without her ever moving a muscle! It's so facinating! They also have no idea how small they are! We have 2 sets of 2 big labs on either side of our house and Louis will go tearing to the fence when he is out and like he is telling them off especially when Paris is outside with him! They look at him like "dude! bring your little small butt over here and see what happens to you then!" They are also extremely sensitive and want to please! Louis cowars when he is in trouble just hoping that whatever I have to say will pass so he can go back to kissing me again! I could go on and on all day...what's not to love??? I will say that this is NOT the breed for people who want a dog who doesn't need attention! Yorkies thrive on being with their humans and need daily (and hourly and sometimes minute by minute affection!)

![]() But I think other dogs are smart, cute, cuddly, lovable, sweet and with great personality too....Then why still choose a yorkie?

![]() We both love our cane Corso, but would you want him sitting on your lap, carrying him aboard a plane, sleeping in your bed, or taking him into the shower? He has his great traits, as does the little tough Yorkie. They are just so different. Whatever dog forum you go on, the people there will usually pick the breed they have. That's a good thing.
