| Is this a trait specific to Yorkies I have lots of experience with other breeds especially Chihuahuas but Bella is my first Yorkie so I am learning a few new tricks myself. My question is this: When I get home and take the dogs out to potty all the Chihuahua's usually bail out of the house and go potty almost immediately. I only have one Chi that takes her time and does much sniffing and roaming. Bella on the other hand takes her sweet time. She romps and plays, sniffs and eats bugs...whatever takes her fancy. Then just when you think she may not do anything at all she suddenly disappears behind a decorative lawn ornament or bush and does her thing. She seems to take her time getting there, likes to hide behind things to do it and makes a quick job of it once she starts! Is this a Yorkie thing?

| My guys go out eat the grass/bug thing then when they come in they go on the paper!!! I think they forget why they are out. They are just little play monsters that's it.

| Roxie is SUCH a dawdler when I take her out! It takes her forever to find a good place to pee, and we usually make an entire round of the development before she poops! She never just runs out the door and does her business.

| Yes, same here. If I was a smoker, I could smoke a Cigar in the time it takes her to find that perfect spot. Funny, when she has an accident inside, it happens fast! |

| Jackson usually takes forever too. He can sleep for 10 hours thru the night, and still take his sweet ole' time stretching, then hops off the bed, then barks at the door to go out, so I let him out... and he still spends a minute or two just sniffing, etc before going potty! LOL. Me, on the other hand, I have to go pee right away when waking up.

| One quick, One not ! Pebbles can go out & pee & poop anywhere. Bogey on the other hand, goes to a particular spot in the back corner of the property to do his business. No matter how long it takes.

| Each one is different. I have girls and boys that the minute the go out they do their business. And there are the others that have to sniff out the whole yard before they find that spot. Other's won't go in front of me, they hide behind the bush. But, I've found puppies are the worst, they are so easily side tracked, you know that attention span thing....a flower, a bug, a sound makes them forget that they have to go potty, even though they've run to the door and asked to be let out.

| So funny, mine do this. If we spend FOREVER outside they will sometimes pee(usually save it for the pads inside). Rarely ever finish the other business in the back yard. My husband walks them every day because it's the only thing that works. We call it "walking it out" |

| Madison, dawdles in the back yard which she has doggie door access 24/7. But let her out the front door and she gets right down to business and runs right back in the house... go figure...... |

| HA! Mine is completely different! My yorkie goes immediately and wants to go back inside. My chihuahua on the other hand could take FOREVER to go potty, even if he really has to go. Stubborn boy! |

| Joey and his "potty adventures"...he takes forever to poop, and when he finally does, he walks while pooping - the entire time! He will walk in a million circles, then eventually poop where he started sniffing...SO frustrating!!! Dogs do get embarrassed, though, and they probably are close to as embarrassed as we would be if someone were watching us poop... Tank, on the other hand, just goes right out there and gets it done - no pussyfooting for him - at least one of them gets right down to business, right?

| it quite possibly could be a yorkie trait because my little man goes outside and stands around forever before he does anything! whenever i try to egg him on or go pick him up to put him back on the grass to go potty he starts to zoom around the yard as if we are playing some game. LOL i just take a book outside nowadays because who knows how long it could take him. |
