By the way......did anyone call animal control to see if PERHAPS the owner is looking for her? I wish I knew what town you were in. I would surely call myself! Someone could be looking for their beloved pet. |

I merely asked the question. The OP says she knows the family and it is not so. I hope so! :) |

Sure she may have been abused, however you said you were told her vet check up was good. Surely, they checked her over and would be able to tell if she had been neglected or abused. It would take no time for one of these little guys to get skinny and rough looking out by themselves. Of course, she was scared. She was in a strange world without her owners. This was all unfamiliar to her. She was lost. You say: What if she was abused? I say: What if she wasn't and her owner is searching for her? I would pray if Maddie was missing someone would keep her safe and search me out for her. :( |
Glad to here she was sprayed. I do feel YTer's came down a little hard on OP. It's hard to remember that not everyone is an expert. Could of been a little more gentler w/advise. I know where OP is coming from. I spoke the "truth" once on here & man, did I get bashed. I'm also from a small town. I'm sure the OP knew this lady & wouldn't give this yorkie to just anyone. Everything taken into consideration, I think she did ok. Yes, you....would of done it different, but remember, not everyone is an expert. We need to be more patient when training/advising the inexperienced. I do hope the OP will come back, should she have other questions or help. Thanks for doing what you thought was best, thats all anyone can do. I do hope you keep us updated. As we do care. |

Please read the subject line. It does say please help, does it not?? The way I see it, if you don't want advice, do not ask for it. No one was mean....we are very honest....you want me to say...OH just give it away? Uh...NO, as a pet owner I would NEVER... I would DIE if one of mine was missing...and the thought that someone could do that makes me sick to my stomach. |

I'm glad the vet checked for a microchip, but alas none was found, but maybe ask your vet if he/she has a universal scanner. Whilst in a town of 2000 folks you might not have a present animal control perhaps your county does. Always a good idea to check there as well. There are also numerous sites you could post on .. see the thread about Cookie . Gen could give you some good ideas to get out to as much as the public you can that a lost yorkie was found. I wish you all the best and hope for the best for the little one |
They are not looking for the owner. She was clear about that....she NOW says the dog was abused so they feel they should not look for the owner....a day earlier she was well adjusted. Excuse me for being a tad bit confused. |

I am not twisting anything. If this site was not so lagged I would show it all with quotes...but it is lagged and honestly this is getting to be a tad bit old. Don't try to say that *I* maligned you. You are the person who placed that dog with the first person who answered your ad...you did that rather than take her to the vet to look for a microchip as you had said you were going to do. YES, some of us were totally floored.... Then, you tell us to respect your decision??? That is just unbelievable to me. You did say she seemed ok...then you said she seemed abused..I know what I read. Bottom line....I hope you are looking. This could be YOUR dog one day. You just never know. People are only giving you advice, but you are the one twisting things. YOu just did not like that we would question what you did.....well, of course we did! We love our pups and pray that if they ever got lost someone would LOOK FOR US. |
Let me just say 1st , thank you for doing your best. Now not sure as to how to say this without offending you again so I will just say it. Did you run an add in the news paper , or just check the lost and found adds ? as I stated before most states require you to run a found add in your local paper. If you call you will most likely find they do not charge to run a found add. And also contact the local shelter, ask if anyone is looking for her and give them her info. If you have allready done these things then you have done all you need to do.;) |
Oh the poor little baby. This is so sad. I hope the lady she was turned over to is a good lady and is doing everything possible to care for this precious little fur-baby and find her owner if possible. Hopefully she is as kind as you were in bringing this poor little lost baby into your home for a few days and taking care of her. It sounds like this lady is a kind lady with the steps she has taken so far in bringing the puppy to the vet, the fact she herself had up ads and flyers for her lost Yorkie and was still actively looking for her lost baby too, and the fact that she also put up Flyers for this little sweetie. Quote:
I think the lady she was given to is looking for the owner? No? The OP did say that the lady she gave her to put up Flyers, didn't she? So how is that NOT looking for the owner? I'm confused now because to me it seem like steps are being taken to find the owner at least by the person she gave the litte sweetie too. I mean I read unless you read differently (let me know if you did) that they have looked in papers, public forums, she has been to the vet and checked for microchip and and flyers have been put up, the only thing is that they do not want to put up pictures of the puppy on the flyer so anybody can call and claim it's theirs. Hmm. This lady that took her from the OP sounds like she's decent if she took her to the vet, put up flyers and was honest and said that the puppy wasn't hers. If she was running a puppy mill or an evil person she could have just said YES that's my girl! I'm sure there is more that can be done too and hopefully they are still trying with other methods also. Unless of course it's just talk. Hopefully not. To the OP please keep us updated if at all possible and keep in touch with the lady you gave this little sweetie too. A little call to the AC if not already made (not sure if one was or not) would be suggested too. :) |
Did I miss where flyers were put up? I understand about not wanting to use a picture but why not just Found Yorkie and your number? I see that in the local store windows here all the time. I live in a small town too and not sure why that matters. Seems that would only make it easier to find the owner. Am I missing something? These things the OP said led me to believe this lady was keeping her initially. I do believe with all my heart that this lady needed this poor baby as bad as the baby needed her. I will continue to check on her daily until I feel I don't need to anymore. |

I've bolded and underlined below where the OP says flyers have been put up by the lady and that this lady said her 1st goal was to make sure the dog was healthy and safe and to find the owner if possible. Quote:

I don't know the whole story, so I won't Jump to conclusions. It seems to me that she is with someone who will care for her. By reading your posts it seems obvious that this lady knows that the owner could still come around. All is good imo. Stop jumping to conclusion YTers! You're going to scare off all our members! |
Thanks:) |
It makes me teary to think of any of mine lost and I would want someone like you to find them and help them! I am praying for this little one tonight and so glad that she found you! Her angel!! Keep it up! You go girl! Proud to know people like you! Keep us posted! |
TOTALLY AGREE w/Jennifer & Mary. |
For all of you who keep wanting to make a difference, do check out some of the sick and injured posts today that seriously are deserving of help and attention! :) |
Thank you all, for the support. I wanted to let everyone know that I went to see the precious baby today and she is doing better. She has gained a little weight and seems to be adjusting well to this home. We have not heard anything from any of the flyers from the vets office. :( We also took the advice of lilliemae and ran an ad today in the local paper. Hopefully we will hear something soon, but in the meantime she is gaining weight.:) |
Very good news. :) Thanks for the update. |
mommaofmia, God Bless you for seeing to this little one's good care, glad to hear she's gaining weight and if she doesn't find her original owners we know she's in very capable hands xo |
More good news! I misunderstood (we were on the cell phone) yesterday when I was talking to the lady who is taking care of her, when she said the vet said she wasn't chipped... She WAS chipped! The vet gave the number to her and she went on the internet and looked it up and called the company. The company then called the owner and it was a breeder. She explained that she had went out of buisness and had her spayed and gave her away. She is not from Missouri but is going to try and contact the person who she gave her to and see if she has lost her. They said they would get back in touch as soon as they found out something. The vet also said she had a heart condition, but after all she had been through must be a tough little girl. He put her on a special diet to slowly introduce her back to food. She is socializing a little bit with this lady and slowly improving. Hopefullly we are closer to the mystery of this baby. Please keep praying she improves and we find all the answers we need.:) |
Mommaofmia, well I am glad you kept us up todate and I am totally glad that some of the things that could make you feel like you were a bad person, did not stop you from finding more about the furbaby. I have read this thread from the very beginning and did not dare to even make a small comment incase I typed something wrong, I think you did what you thought was the very best and it turned out to be true, the lady who is looking after her had more time on her hands than you did and as you kept in close contact with her, I think she landed on the right doorstep Please still keep us uptodate |
Thank you for taking in the little yorkie. You did the right thing |
Are people not reading this entire thread?? How sad. I am glad that the dog is safe (that we know of) but my heart would be broken if Maddy was lost and then rehomed without anyone trying to find me! |
Update: The previous owners were breeders. They are trying to get ahold of the the owner of this lost baby and nobody has called to this date. It makes me sad that nobody has notified us yet, but she is still improving and is in very good hands with the lady that is taking care of her. She is still gaining weight very slowly and slowly adjusting to her surroundings.:) We both are still hoping that if she is lost , we find the owner. The flyers are still out and nobody has called and we haven't heard from anyone from the newspaper ads. The only hope is the chip and that the previous breeders contact the person they gave her to, but like i said earlier, there's been no response.:( |

What did the breeder say about the whole thing... does she want the dog back if the owner doesn't respond? |

What a life this poor little girl has led. Being breed, heaven only knows how many times, given away after being spayed(thank God) when breeder no longer needed her only to be lost, dumped or whatever. Now, finally, in a loving home where she belongs. I, personally, hope no one claims her and she can stay where she is, happy and gaining weight. Being the campanion of an elderly lady. Seems they were made for each other. If someone does claim her I hope you run them through the wringer to find out if they actually took care of her and speak to their vet as well because of the condition she was found in. If they truly want her I am sure they would appriciate your looking into them being a good owner. Not all previous owners are worthy. Bless you for what you have done for this little girl. Your awsome in my book. |
