desperately need your advice!

I had a litter of pups and the one little boy was so outgoing but when his new mommy came to get him he shook like crazy and was very afraid. He was shy for about 2 days and then when he realized he was safe and loved, he became his old playful self again. I think it is good that you have a health guarantee for 4 months. I never had any problems with cats and the yorkies. The cats usually just run away or jump up on something if the yorkie plays to hard.

okay, here is the thing i just got a puppy about 4 weeks ago and i went back and forth about wondering if i would have enough time and such because i am in the process of getting my docterate. My landlord didn't allow pets, but i just went to her and offered to pay a deposit whatever she deemed fit, and she said ok, let your landlord know how small the dog is. The breeder sounds like he loves his animals i am in CA as well and 900 for a male is a good deal but not a fishy price by any means. when they are little they need a secure environment that is for sure. Vet bills aren't too bad shots run about 18.00 a piece and food lasts forever. Petco has a lot of deals on toys and carriers! They are worth every penny. If you want the puppy and you think you can care for it then get it, if you think you would be better off waiting until you live in a place that allows that do that puppies are aways being born you may just have to wait a little longer. where in cali are you i can give you the info fromo my breeder, my mom got a puppy from a litter last year and i got one last month they are really good.

I'm sorry but I'm totally confused by this whole thing .

I think that you want a pup but only will see it part time is somewhat jumping the gun and the responsible thing would be to wait. It might all sound hunky dory now but I'm guessing it won't be so great after the pup barks all night or pees all over and someone else has to take care of it because you had to have a pup RIGHT NOW! I'm sorry but I see something like this breaking up a relationship or at the least making things strained between either you and the boyfriend or you and the BF's parents who's home it is.
You also said something about vet visits were covered for 4 months. Well I'm thinking the man's intentions with agreeing to this meant sick visits but I am reading from your post that you are thinking ALL visits. The vet will need follow up well visits and shots during the next 4 months and $18 a shot is only for the shot and an exam fee is usually customary unless somebody knows something I don't know!!!!

I'm sorry but it reminds me of when my kids see someting on TV and just HAVE to have it. They go nuts for the commercials and nuts in the stores but EVERYTIME I go ahead and get it, it wears off and then the toy is forgoton or disgarded.

Oh!!! You are so close to me! I actually work in Westwood but I live in West LA. on Barrington and Santa Monica. I just saw that you joined the meetup today, how exciting! You are going to meet some really wonderful people. If you want, we can meet up prior to you getting the pup so we can chat about vets and groomers and stuff and I can tell you how what I went through the first few weeks/months so you can be prepared and you can meet Bella! i understand that your a very concerned yorkie owner and all, but i dont think you should go aound comparing every dog owner to your children, I dont know if you understand or not but there is a big difference in the way a child thinks and the way an adult thinks.
FYI i am the boyfriend you were reffering to, and trust me i have no problem with the dog barking at night, and am prepared to clean up after the mess my puppy will be making. I am well aware of what i am getting myself into and the time and money involved in caring for my yorkie. Trust me if love and care is what your concerned about... the yorkie will recieve more than a sufficient amount of care and love.

My girlfriend has never owned a pet that she couldnt take care of, and she definetly never bought something just because she would "see someting on TV and just HAVE to have it," and i can guarentee that it will not be soemhing that "wears off and then the toy is forgoton or disgarded."

I honestly believe that your intentions were good, but please dont come on to a thread and compare me or my girlfriend to your children and make the assumption that we are not going to take care of our puppy properly and on top of that make statements that are going to say that this puppy is something that can jeopardize our relationship.
To everyone else on the thread that had nice welcomes and warm positive greetings to the community i appreciate it very much and i look foward to sharing our experiences with you as for the negative people who dont think it is a good idea or think that we are just jumping the gun, i would appreciate it if you would keep the negativity to yourself and give us a chance before you start knocking on us.

Yorkieangel was not alone in her thoughts, it's just that once Jenn made her decision the rest of us stopped posting our opinions. Remember Jenn came here and voiced some of the same concerns and asked for our advice.

We all wish you and the pup the best. We know these dogs and we know how high maintence and expensive they can be. It sounds like you have thought through everything and if everyone involved loves and cares for the pup, it will be fine.

My only advice is that you all come up with a plan so he doesn't get confused by the situation. Same rules, same training, same food, same potty plan from everyone. (potty training is HUGE issue with these little guys).

I suggest an expen with his bed, a potty pad and some toys. That way, if he changes homes or spends the night somewhere different he can have his "room" with him.

well first off to answer yorkieangel......im not hear to only hear to only hear what i want to hear, i just dont appreciate getting compared to a child or your children for that matter.... i have no problem with constructive criticism, but honestly....it just didnt seem to be criticism that would be along the same lines. I do understand that you meant good, and i have no anger or anything toward you, just wanted to clear up the confusion so that we were on the same page.

and to ytsirk27, the dog is not partime pet.... so maybe that will help your confusion, there is going to be someone there for it at all times, and there is plenty of people around that have dogs that they dont sit with all 24 hours of the day. There are some people in the world that have to work as well, you cant tell me every dog owner does not have a job where they would have to leave the house from time to time. I dont know your situation and perhaps maybe you dont have any obligations in life other than your dog and if thats the case ... good for you, but everybody's situation is different.

I understand that..all i meant is for wanting a puppy so badly and wanting all this advice she really should have her dog at her house during the night time with HER not at everybodys house. I NEVER said you guys would not beable to take care of the dog. I just meant this isnt really a good time to get a dog if she cant have a dog where she lives..again..its stupid!!!
