I just moved from my place with laminate and my new place has hardwood. I used my shark steam mop on the laminate and plan to do the same on the hardwood! It's technically scent-less but still everything ends up having a "clean" smell when I'm done! And it does wonders for Layla's paw prints left all over the place!

i use the shark cleaner too forgot about that one

it works great on tile and laminate but our hardwood for some reason it sticks so is there any reason why does anyone know ? is there maybe a coating on our hardwood or something as it was put in before we moved in

Does your hardwood have a shiny finish on it, or is it wearing? Mine is sealed with a shiny finish and it works absolute wonders on it - glides over just like the laminate. Maybe the finish is breaking down, causing it to stick??

Hmmm I wonder if that may be a problem with our hardwoods too when we get around to cleaning them... they're original from 1916 and have not been refinished. I may try the steam mop this weekend and see if it works...

yeah it has a shiny finish - i think it was installed in 1999 do you think that it would break down by then

That's a different version of the steam mop, so I'm really not sure how it works. The one I have is the steam pocket mop, which supposedly holds more steam/heat. It's this model:

Not really sure. But I guess if I really think about it, the mop is just a little harder to push on the hardwood vs. the laminate. I like seeing the dirt on the cloth that I didn't know I had!

I included this because this person made a detailed (very) review of 5 different steam mops...which only made me confused

, but the Eureka Envirosteamer sounds good too,... and the price is not bad ( free shipping when buying from Amazon)

I bought this model but haven't tried it yet. I am trying to cut back on all the chemicals that I use to clean the house with. Does it do a good job?

Thanks for the link! I'm considering switching from my shark now... I have more than double the floor space to clean in my new place and it would go a lot faster if I could get some spots clean with just one swipe instead of two or three!

Hot water with a drop of Murphy's Oil Soap. Thankfully I don't have to worry about "accidents."

How did you get the top off without breaking it? and does it still seal when removed. I tried to take to top off and it did not budge.

I was under the impression that steam mops were not good for wood floors. I thought it dulls the finish and wraps it?
