What do you use to clean your hardwood floors? I don't know which product to use because I don't want to ruin my hardwood floors, but my puppy is eliminating everywhere lol so I have to find something to clean up her spots. |
vinegar and water and safe for the dogs |
I use Bona for hardwood floors. It's a swedish formula that leaves my hardwood floors clean and polished looking and it's pet friendly. When Sophie had an accident I would use a warm damp cloth and then the Bona. |
What do you use to clean your hardwood floors? I have a residential cleaning company and we use bona on hardwood floors and I add a little pet stain & ordor remover to the water. If you don't clean up where she left her gift for you; she will continue to eliminate near that area on the floor. Vinegar after a while will destroy the hardwood floors if too much is used. |
1 gallon water hot 1/2 cup murphy oil soap. I put it in my swiffer! |

I use vinegar and water for my regular clean up and then natures miracle for the spots. |
Natures miracle for spots then I use a shark steam mop for the entire floor. |

It works great on my wood floors. We have distressed wood and the steam mop somehow gives the floor a shine. We have an older version of the mop, and will someday get a new one with a longer cord and bigger water tank (oh yea & the carpet attachment too). |
I looked up on reading and asked my boyfriend ( who is a chemist). He said not exact quotes so sorry if i am wrong ( i am just a civil engineering student not a fan of chemistry) if you have a polyurethane coated wood floor both oil soap, and vinegar is bad. "The vinegar will create abrasions on the top coat in time" and i guess the oil soap just puts a layer of residue on top of the wood. SO the best bet is to go with a cleaner that is specific for hard wood floors. what ever that means. ( I also didnt tell him i have been using oil soap for a year now LOL) |

I agree completely with the Shark steam mop!! I have hardwoods (linoleum in the kitchen), and when Rocco had an accident I'd use the Dog Whisperer cleaner (from Petco) to wipe it up. Then about 2-3x per week, I'd use the Swiffer wet jet to clean all of the floors. I swear, I didn't have the hardwoods clean for 5 minutes and Rocco would promptly pee right in front of me on the floor. Then he'd pee about 5 more times that day. It seemed he would sniff the floor immediately after cleaning, then pee. So I got the Shark steam mop (the new, pricier pocket mop - $129 at BB&B). Well, since then, there has been BARELY an accident on the floor and it was an almost immediate change. He was only 12 weeks when I got it, so it's not like he was suddenly potty trained... Sorry about the long post, but in closing I think the scent from the Swiffer cleaner somehow encouraged him to leave his scent. The steam mop not only leaves no scent, but there's no chemicals, and it sanitizes the floor...LOVE IT!! I suggest you take the plunge and get it if you can.:D |
I use the swifter for the in between cleanups and I use the MINIWAX cleaner when the floors are being mopped or the murphys oil soap...Good luck!!! |
Vinegar & water only |
