| New to Yorkies Hi everyone. I was walking through the pound dropping off supplkies and someone had dropped off a 2yo yorkie she was in heat and was disturbing the other dogs. They wanted her gone. i walked out with her. She is my first yorkie since i have always raised pomeranians and no one told me that this is night and day. My old perceptions do not apply. I have a 15yo pom that she (Chloe) just took to immediately and mothers and watches constantly. When I have to do anything on my pom Sheba, Sheba may yelp. Chloe will come running and actually snap at me until i put Sheba down and she checks her. What is going on? |

| I think you already put your finger on it. She's mothering her. It may be more pronounced since she is in heat - I don't know about that. Yorkies are very bossy and protective of those they love. Not usually in a mean way though. Congratulations on your little Chloe. I love the name. Welcome to YT.

| Thanks. She is not mean about it just very insistent and demanding. She is scheduled for a spay so we will see. She has had a few litters according to my vet and that is enough. She also does not like the food i have been feeding my poms(Innova) so now the hunt begins. I haven't looked at food in years. I try to keep the protein below 30% because of their size and the idea that we do not know what it will do to their kidneys in later years or is that pom thinking? |

| Yes. You're right about the food. Of course, even some good foods may not agree with them, so the hunt is on. Huh?

| Thank you everyone. i feel welcome already. Here is the next Yorkie question. I had to leave Chloe with my vet for her workup. When I went to pick her up ahe took one look at me and literally turned her head and snubbed me. At home she went and stayed with Sheba or under the bed. She would not look at me nor could she hear me. It took 6 hours before she would "deign" to sit near me again. I had to apologize and then she was my very best friend. Normal? |

| Welcome to YorkieTalk and Congratulations on your new little yorkie . Our first yorkie (Baby) was the same way. If we went somewhere for any length of time and she couldn't come with us she would snub us for about 1/2 hr after we came home and then she was all kisses again. Sophie's not like that. She always welcomes us as soon as we come home.
