| Sophie is getting a brother! Sophie is getting a brother on the weekend! I just need some help getting over some of the guilt I am feeling. Sophie is 9 months old and has been the center of my world...I don't want her to lose that bond with me and I am worried that she will be angry and hate me and never be the same. She is fixed and up to date with all of her needles. We weren't looking for another one, it just sort of happened. He is 12 weeks old, a "splitter" and from the same breeder as Sophie (we stayed in contact). I am just really worried about Sophie and how it will make her feel. I love her so much and this guy is going to be bigger than her (I don't want another tiny one)...I just keep looking at her and wanting to cry knowing her world will be turned upside down this weekend. I just need support and to know that this guilt eventually does go away. I am excited and nervous all at the same time lol Help calm me down lol |

| I totally understand where you are coming from! But don't feel so bad, this is probably a good thing for her, she'll have someone to play with... or someone to boss around She is still a puppy so I assume she has lot's of energy to play and have fun with the new puppy. Congrats on the new little man and ease up a bit on yourself!

| The most likely thing to happen is that she will have a new best friend and need you a little less. That is what you may have to deal with! This really is true but believe me they love their people so you are safe and she will probably be even happier. Getting Bella has actually brought new life to my older dogs.

Congrats on the addition!! I have been actually thinking of doing the same thing! And have all of the same concerns that you have. I do agree with the fact that she will have a new best friend, and having another one keeps her busy at all times. I have always reassured myself that when it is time for a new baby, Trudy will still get the same amount of time and love. It just so happens that I have a lot of love to give! Best of luck with your babies. Please keep me posted, I will be very interested in how they do together! | |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | Congratulations!! For over 30 years I only had 1 dog at a time because I to was worried about what my one and only would feel like if I brought another one in. Then when I was laid off 5 years ago I decided to get a Yorkie again ( I had a 7 year old pom). I was so nervous but it worked out fine. I then added 2 more over the next 1 1/2 years. They love snuggling up and playing together. They still are very affectionate with me too. I think you will be very happy with your decision.

| Sadly, I have canceled the appointment to pick him up on Saturday. Something just wasn't sitting right with me and I was guaranteeing the breeder I would buy him on Saturday, but I had only seen him by picture and she is an hour and a half away from where I live, but I was feeling like I had to make a decision right away or else they would sell him. I think I was acting faster than I should have as I didn't get time to think about it. I feel bad because I canceled the appointment, then made the appointment again, and then canceled for a final time. It frustrated her, and I understand, but I was feeling like I wasn't given a chance to think about it and I hadn't even met the dog. They were just trying to sell their last two puppies, so they were selling the very cheap and it just appealed to me and I was feeling forced. She got a little snippy when I asked her to let me know if they have another littler later on in the year and she told me she wasn't sure if I would be interested because they would cost over $1000. I didn't want to be judged by the fact that right now money is tight (I just moved in with my fiance ) and I told her that down the road that amount would be fine, just not at the moment. I don't know. It just wasn't sitting right and it hurt to tell her right now it wasn't fair to the puppy and I truly hope he finds an amazing home an d her response was "we have no doubt he will, he is an amazing puppy and they will have no problem" ... way to make me feel even worse, all I did was wish them well and I got sarcasm back. Anyway, I went with my gut and feel a lot better. Besides, something good came out of it. I was bummed so my fiance and I went to a local pet store to get some treats for Sophie and they had brought in two kittens this morning (one of the employees cats had kittens) and I fell in love with a little ash-orange male and lo and behold we pick him up as soon as he has had his vet appointment and first set of shots. He is adorable and no bad gut feeling this time and I know this is a better financial decision for us and Sophie already lives with two adult cats (they are both amazingly friendly) and she has always preferred cats over other dogs (she runs from dogs and curls up and sleeps and plays with cats). I am extremely excited and if people would still like, I would love to post pics of my new little guy as soon as we pick him up =) Thanks for support though, my decision wasn't based on Sophie, just a gut instinct that I needed to follow. |
