Introducing.....Forrest....yes, as in Gump :) 1 Attachment(s) Hi, I'm Forrest...like in Forrest Gump. I'm a little slow right now but with the help of Yorkie Haven Rescue am hoping to get better soon. I am four years old and when I was a puppy started having seizures. My owner never found out what was wrong with me. I don't walk very good, I can only take a couple of steps before I stumble and fall. Maybe someday I'll get "magic legs" and can run with the other dogs. My story can have a happy ending too just like the other Forrest's. Hey you all....this is my new foster boy, he was a Craigslist surrender:( We are not sure exactly what is going on with him. Our lab results came back today and he does have elevated liver values, although the owner insists she was told he doesn't have a liver shunt:confused: So, our next step is for bile acids test and then most likely off to OSU for further testing. His ears and tail are in bad shape too, no hair on either. And, his ears are so brittle, there are pieces of their edges falling off:(:(:( He is the sweetest boy and of all the dogs I've fostered before Forrest has turned out to be everyone's favorite....something about those big sad eyes just softly say....Please Help ME!!!!!!! I imagine his original owner didn't have the funds for further testing and treatment so Forrest has lived the past 3-1/2 years almost paralyzed. They gave him up because they are "having a baby".....what did they think Forrest is:confused: |
OMG - look at his ears...how heartbreaking but thank God you have him and he is gone from the home I am sure was "loved " in...I cannot image someone letting this little dog suffer like this... |

I know Cindy, I've seen some ears in pretty bad shape, but nothing that comes close to this. While at the vets yesterday, I was petting him, the blanket rubbed against his ear and a little piece fell off, right there....I wanted to cry! Believe me, everyone that has seen Forrest has a few "special wishes:mad:" for the past owners. He was so thin, another week or two with them and he most likely wouldn't have survived. :( He couldn't even get to his water:( |

Heartbreaking...any clue from your vet? I am sure numerous things are going on.. |
You are amazing and forrest is so lucky to have you looking out for him! Please keep us posted on what is happening with him! Prayers and hugs to you both as you start this journey towards healing together! Praying for his "magic legs!" :-) |
Oh my gosh! That is so sad! That poor little baby. I am very happy that you have taken him into your life and are willing to give him the help he needs. Please give him a big hug and kiss from Twinkie and myself. ;) |
Oh my, what a sad situation poor little Forrest has been in. Thank God for people like you Jen. How can someone let a little baby suffer like that. I just don't understand how they can't afford to take care of Forrest, but are going to be able to take care of a baby. It is just so sad that there are so many people out there who get a pet and just consider it as something disposable when things go wrong. |
First off~I welcomed you the other day and no one told me that you were THIS Jencar98  I now feel not only totally clueless but really stupid. Now Forest for forest I just can't get over his ears :( OMG his poor little ears  What did the vet say/think? Could it be related to his other issues? I am in tears looking at this poor little guy. How could someone have this precious little guy in their home and see him suffering like this and not do something ANYthing to help him.:eek::confused: |

She thinks the poor condition of his ears is probably related to his general ill health. His thyroid numbers came back at the low side of normal but still within normal range, so she ruled out treating him for that. He has not been eating a decent food, and not very much of it, at that. IDK understand how they could let him go this long. I know, I would have done something! The husband was covered in tattoos.....my son pointed out, tattoos aren't cheap - they had the money for those! |

Thank you - those are much better pictures. I'm going to see if Linda can repost the pictures here too. |
2 Attachment(s) Here they are! I was thinking the same thing about poor nutrition and possibly leather ear. When I asked the vet about Truman he suggested antifungal creme and it not only worked but they healed and before he passed away his ears had fully healed and GREW hair back. My vet suggested human antifungal like you would use for athletes foot. At first they hair that grew in didn't really stick and was easily pulled out but over time it became stronger. Here are the pictures of his ears that I just swiped ;) |
Omgosh, a chill went down my spine when I saw those poor little ears :( I am so glad he's finally getting the attention and care that he needs.z |
that just breaks my heart. what a precious little baby he is! so glad he's with you Jen. I'll pray that they find out the problem(s) and he can live the remainder of his life knowing what it's like to be loved the way they all should be. |
I had tears in my eyes when I looked at that pic in your original post. Such a sad little baby who just wants to be cared for. Thank God he found his angel in you :( |
How terribly sad, bless his little heart this makes me want to cry. Thankfully he will finally get the love and care he deserves. |

I've never seen ears like that in my whole life. I don't know how anyone could have let him go that long without help. I feel so sorry for him.:( |

Wow, Jen.. What a poor little baby. :( I don't understand how anyone could treat an innocent dog this way. I just can't get over those ears! Bless your heart for taking him in.. At least now he will get the medical attention and love that he needs! :) (Wow, now I know what you were talking about. 10 dogs!? Lol, you must be a busy woman!) Keep us updated on his progress! |
