He's doing better in many ways, his ears are looking alive again, I've seen him walk and move much more this last few days, than he did the first week. He has life in his eyes that he didn't have at first too! He is learning his new name, it's obvious when I talk to him that he is listening and knows when it's him I'm talking to/about.

We're still in the process of diagnosis. Forrest will be getting a bile acids test done later this week. His condition was so poor after his first vet visit and blood draw, I wanted a few days to try and build him up before getting another blood draw for the BAT. His ALT number was high at 215, but AST was within normal range, the ALT was the only number not within normal range.

His previous owner did email to tell me, the vets told her he did not have liver shunt. But without the OSU records we don't know what specific tests may have been done to rule out LS. I'm still trying to get those records so just maybe Forrest won't have to go through testing that's not necessary.

I honestly think a big part of his problem has been neglect. He is on a great quality, low protein food, that I do trust much more than the other commercial specialty liver diets I see promoted.

Thank you both! I keep saying Forrest is more of a blessing for us, than we are, for him. He makes my resolve even stronger to help the poor unwanted and neglected pups.

Update on Forrest
 

I just spoke with Jen. Our little Forrest went to the Rainbow Bridge yesterday after unexpected complications of his MVD.

I am so thankful that Forrest's last days were with Jen and her husband, where he finally got to know love, make a friend, and experience some joy in his too short life. Thank you, Jen.

RIP sweet Forrest.

RIP Forrest, your life was too short and too sad until you went to live with Jen. (((HUGS))) to Jen for all the love you gave to little Forrest. :(

You are truely a blessing for this precious little dog. You gave him love and all the things he deserved as a little "fur" baby.

I got in late on this post but read every one and I just knew little Forrest was going to get better. Then when he died I was so shocked I cried my eyes out. But now he is with Jesus. No more pain for this little guy. Glod bless him and keep him forever.

Oh Jen I am so sorry to hear this...when i seen that there was an update i was happy to click on it thinking it was something good....but it was the total opposite. RIP Forrest

Jen, I am so sorry... and so grateful that he found you and at least went to the bridge knowing what it meant to be loved. He is waiting for you there, and he will RUN to you when you get there. What a truly joyous moment that will be.
