| Between baths... Good evening all! My little Linus has pretty dry skin and usually has dandruff, so I try not to bathe him too often, but if I wait too long he starts to get a little smelly! We both love being outside and spend a lot of time in the backyard, but he is definitely pretty smelly after a few days!! Does anyone use anything on their pups between baths to get rid of some of the stench? Does it help with dry skin at all? All suggestions are appreciated!! |

Donating YT 1000 Club Member | You might try Nootie. They have a fabulous conditioning spritz. It is a leave on conditioner and spray to use between baths that make them smell fabulous. My favorite is sweet pea. I am selling it, if you are interested in more, pm me. good luck! |

| I use wet wipes on the feet, bum and a wet washcloth on the face. This seems to help! I then spray with nootie or pet head in between bath spray. Usually just the wipes help! |

| a huge concern to me when i got my puppy was cleanliness - i did not want my house smelling like pee or having the doggy smell. of course, i gave her a bath as soon as we got home the first day i had her. low and behold, she still had that doggy smell after she dried although she smelled much better! the following day she smelled again even though she had only been outside for minutes at a time on a leash! i didn't give her a bath that day, but the next (3rd day) i bathed her again. it seems no matter what i do, my puppy has that puppy smell (imagine that). i've also been looking for a product that will give me a break because as of now, it's like having another child to bathe nightly. i already have 2 of those - so having to bathe my pup every night is not something i'm crazy about. that's what i've been doing though! even when she smells good after a bath....if we go outside where the grass is wet...she has that unmistakable "wet dog" smell. let me know if you find something that works and i'll do the same! |

| I would say it's time for a trip to the vet for the both of you. Yorkies do not normally smell. They could be suffering from food allergy or yeast or both. |

| milu use to have doggie smell when she was eating eukanuba kibble. but after she started eating better dog food, no more doggie smell. there are also gentler shampoos you can use. my groomer recommended a brand of shampoo to me, it is really gentle. milu has dry skin too, but the shampoo works great for her. let me know if you are interested, i can go look and let you know what it's called.

some people are more sensitive to smells than others - i don't like the smell, but i don't think it's really abnormal - i've always thought dogs smell. when it rains, i've often stepped outside and said it smells like a "wet dog." my puppy has the "wet dog" smell after i bathe her (of course) but after she dries smells much better...but still mild wet doggy smell. | |

| Every couple of days I wipe him down. I take a warm washcloth with just a little bit of Johnson's baby bath worked into it (I use the lavender scented one); then I wipe his face, ears, belly and feet. It's just enough to get the surface stickies off, and he actually enjoys the warm cloth on his belly!

| We use Earth Bath puppy spray for in-between baths. Nala has a knack for rolling in smelly things. I can't bathe her every week which is what I used to do with Bandit because her skin is really dry, so we do every other week. |

| If a puppy or dog is eating only kibble, then expect dry skin. Dogs need Omega fatty acids. You can buy these in gel form at a vitamin store. Look at the adult does, then you can figure out how to break it down to his size. Fish is also good. Sardines and salmon (in a puch, not canned) You also should not use baby shampoo. There is an ingredient that can be harmful to pets. Instead, you could use Dr. Bronners pure castile liquid baby mild liquid soap. You can dilute it way down. Remember, you don't need tons of suds to get clean. Dr. Bronner's Magic Soaps Retail Store: Baby Mild Liquid Soap Then always use a conditioner afterwards.

| I definitely wouldn't use it for bath time though - it wouldn't be the best for his skin. I only use a tiny bit, well diluted on a warm cloth to cut through the 'puppy dirt' in his hair, rather than just plain water. He doesn't really have a doggie smell at all so I think it works just fine.
