Coming home from Lancaster, CA on the 14 Freeway.....Big Bill Board Sign on the side of the Freeway......

DOGS FOR SALE CALL BOB with an 866 number. The sign was comprised of several puppies/multiple breeds......

In traveling I've seen signs advertising puppies and mostely in Texas, but in other states too. Some neon signs, signs outside of stores, on street corners in various towns, even selling pups in flea markets.

I'm still amazed at the lengths people will go through to sell pups.

hmmm ....it sure would be nice to bombard him with calls - and I mean BOMBARD him....too bad you didn't get the number - I bet lots of you all would do it too :p

may make him think again about selling dogs on the freakin FREEWAY

Geez, it never ceases to amaze me at the lengths "greeters" will go to to "make a sell"!:thumbdown Just disgusting!:thumbdown Not sure in your area, but here it cost about $250.00-$350.00 per day for a billboard!

It was a fairly new sign, I don't travel up that way often, but the next time I do I'll make sure and take my camera with me......it was an 866 #.

That area is pretty populated with Puppy Mills....but, if they stay within the limits of the law are USDA, they can remain in operation.

Yeah! But, what about those that place a sign outside an Antique Store or a Neon sign on the side of the road, doesn't coast them one, red cent.....it's still disgusting.

That is just plain sick.:mad: Next we will have people holding the signs waling up and down the streets! My mom told me she saw something like that in Missouri. I have never seen one.

I had never seen a Bill Board before....but, like I said I've seen plenty of other types of signs, especially in Texas.

I'm amazed they can sell in FLEA MARKETS - many (here in Texas) are smuggled....brought across the border with parvo.

It's so sad and a problem that no one seems to be trying to stop. I can't even think about how many die on the way - but have heard about people buying them there only to lose them to that awful painful illness. What gets me is people think it's ok.

my hex on those who do buy sell puppies like this is :

may the fleas of a thousand camels infest their crotch and may their arms be too short to scratch

hope no one here has bought in a flea market cause that would make me sound like a jerk

It doesn't make you sound like a jerk....we've all made mistakes.....live and learn.


I have a girl here that I obtained at the Canton Flea Market......Yeah! I know....and which one of us hasn't made wrong dicisions......Bad knees, sking problems...you name it...but, my Savannah is my love.......

Would I do it again....well after I obtained her I never visited "Dog Alley" again.

OMG!!! V you are so bad........................but I agree. I think that is just horrible!!

Wouldn't it....I ended up in ER when I stepped on a Fire Ant Hill, barefoot, wearing Levis...they got up my pant leg...talk about sick.

I know someone had a picture of a sign around Houston. Wish I could remember who is was...we could send the fire ant squad!

Someone posted a sign on a billboard just off the Kennedy Expressway in Chicago that read, "Oprah: Do a show on puppy mills. The dogs need you." After that, Oprah started looking into the problem and now many more people are aware of the problem, and I believe that her show was instrumental in getting some new laws passed. Maybe you ought to send a picture of that sign to her!

My guess is Bob is a puppy broker, and since more people are frowning at dogs being sold in pet stores, we will have more puppy brokers, the individual millers make very little for their pups, the Dane brothers paid less than $200.00 a dog, but brokers turn around and sell these dogs for thousands. So we are raising the standard of living for puppy brokers, not for the dogs.

The Puppy Millers are rampid in the Lancaster area....Peachtree, Rockwall.....a very desert area......

I was stopped at a traffic light in town a few weeks ago. The beat up truck in front of me had a handwritten sign taped to its bumper:

"Purebred Pomeranian puppies for sale, $600. 6 weeks old, first shots. Call XXXXXXXXXX."

It made me sick to my stomach.

I saw a billboard sign several years ago when I went to the Beaumont shows but can't remember the number and it said Yorkies for sale is all I can remember because it was several years ago...the one and only time I've been to Beaumont....I got lost and remember seeing that sign and made me sick to my stomach!! Maybe soon I can make that trip again and see if I can find it...I do have several friends that live in that area maybe we can find it again LOL...and if I do I will get the number and take a picture of it and bomarde them with calls!!

I travel the Kennedy all the time and remember that sign well! Oprah also works with PAWS Chicago and donated huge money for the dogs. Remember when she had all the mill Yorkies on her show after the mill buster. All of the really sick dogs that needed amputations and lost all their teeth went to YTNR. I think most if not all have now been adopted.

Yes they do! I have a 800# for my car dealership & auto repair facility, every time the 800 number is used, I get charged.
