Oh don't get me started on the smuggled pups! I live near the Texas/Mexican border in a small town. We are lucky to have a shot clinic that operates under a vet in a larger town nearby. The vet tech is my aunt. Now, I see these people (2) here on Mondays and Fridays. They sell all kinds of dogs and even parrots. They have French Poodles, Shih Tzus, Schnauzers, and Chihuahuas. Their prices vary but when I stopped to look at the conditions of those poor puppies the Shih Tzu's were $600. These dogs are not registered, have no shot records and are being sold as healthy 8-12 week old dogs. I mentioned it somewhere on here before, but a girl took a schnauzer who was supposedly 12 weeks old to get his shots. He had been sold for a whopping amount because he was GUARANTEED on paper to not weigh more than 4 lbs at adult hood. Now the paper he was guaranteed on had no phone number or address - just a letter head that said "PUPPIES ON WHEELS PUPPY GUARANTEE" . This puppy had NO TEETH putting him at 4 weeks or younger! The girl said she chose him because the sister had bloody diahrrea all over her bottom... HELLO, WARNING SIGN! Anyways, the puppy ended up dying of the doggy illness that causes paralysis - I am at a loss for words, please fill me in on that one ... is it Corona Virus? Anyways, these dogs are all brought from Mexico too young! The best part is that the lady gives the buyers a card with the AKC website and phone number - she tells them to take a photo of the dog and to call the AKC to get instructions on how to get the dog registered! And these dogs sell like hotcakes... My neighbor just asked me how old Chloe was when I took her picture for AKC... And she looked at me like she felt bad for me - if she only knew. It really is sad what people do these days to make a buck!:mad:

That would be a good idea. Maybe delete this one when the plan is together, then when we see a post with a certain pic... We will all know what to do:D? We will not even have to talk about it, or just have a key word like "done" and we will know.

Great idea, even some kind of code name could be put into the titles of every thread that will pertain to this. I'm getting all excited just thinking of this... I feel so spy like!

I am anxious to see what the others say in the morn. I hope this will work. At least we know we are doing some part. I was thinking(:eek: it is late so I better be carefull trying to think...lol) But if we all call just once or twice with a "inquire call" keep them on the phone for a while then we will waste their time and also money. It may keep others(not informed) people from being able to call (busy signal) so they could loose sales while they are trying to sell to us. We know we won't buy but they will still take the time trying to sell. We can act like a "first time" pet owner and have a lot of questions???

:(:(:( that's why I posted about it - and if you see it in YOUR small town -- I imagine this is happening in all towns .....which just SUCKS - I honestly didn't know this was happening. So they stand outside clinics selling sick puppies ? Can't the clinics do anything ?

I wonder why they're allowed to cross the border. It should be outlawed.....course we can't stop drugs so why should they worry about some 'dogs' right ?

I've heard about friends of friends who bought dogs cheap from 'markets' or even the side of the road only to lose them to parvo - which is awful for the puppy - and then also - the exposure it brings here to our country where we take better care of dogs

They've tried to curb selling of puppies on the side of the road here (in houston) - I don't live where I used to live but saw it all the time where I was before.

What I didn't mention was that the clinic is only open Tuesday - Thursday... so before they would come during those days and everyone would take them for shots... my aunt would notice the parvo smell and that the puppies were way too young. Being that the sellers were still in town they could use their guarantee... so the sellers got smart and started coming in on days that the clinic was closed... sorry for being confused!

Wow. Just wow. No problem about the wording - I was picturing them standing around when clients were coming in and out - both visuals are bad.

So basically - parvo is being spread all over the place & we wonder why so many horrible illness are so rampant. Who can compete with these lowlifes ?

Knowing this and you being close to someone who sees it all the time must drive you nuts. I've always carried my dogs into the vets but see people walk theirs in all the time -

Money does terrible things to people - or maybe the lack of.....but it sounds like they're raking it in at the expense of the poor dogs

This kind of thing will never stop if the laws don't change. It's sad.

how exactly do you mean bombard? Like call and ask them how they dare participate in the business, or just call and hang up? Or what? Cause I would totally get into this! I think a lot of us could have a LOT of fun messing with these people!!! I feel badly for the poor pups involved, but making life difficult for the brokers would be awesome!!!!

Mardelin - I saw that and just couldn't help laughing! It might be mean to say, but I fully agree with that statement!!! Someone who is participating in what I believe to be animal cruelty deserves an infestation of fire ants!!!

I don't think acting radically will help our cause. No calling and hanging up. This is our chance to educate, maybe tell them what they are doing is wrong, living off the backs of dogs....

The original big Bill Board sign was taken down. But, there is another sign there. My girlfriend too pics with her phone and will be e-mailing them to me.

Went to the website and it appears that he does dog training. But if you go down to the bottom of the page it has a section where you can click for puppies..Multiple Breeds, it tells you to click on a puppy to enlarge pics, it doesn't.

My girlfriend that took the pics....is going to take me for another run up that way....through the backroads....she informs me that there are so many wooden signs selling puppies......a puppymill haven this area is.

Mmmmm, wasn't there someone on YT that was obtaining a 7 week old pup from a breeder that identified themselves as a trainer? Spouting that the pups should go home at that age to bond with the new owners.

How about starting with a little about "yourself", persay, like telling him a story and having him to refer what dog may be your best fit, then go into what is "that" breed like? Play the 100 question game!

A purebreed because your aunt has a yorkie, but maybe a mix if it is a better fit, like teacup size!

You definitely want to ask for a teacup. I think you should stick to yorkies since you are so familiar with them. Act like you want a really young baby - see how young they let them go home. Ask about seeing visiting to see their selection of puppies, and ask if you'll get to see the parents. Will they already have all the shots they need. Stuff the average person would probably know about, but not know TOO MUCH about.

I'll keep thinking. There's so many things I used to think were terribly important.

Another good reason to say your aunt who you visit quite a bit has a yorkie so that you are a bit familiar with them but not too much. The age thing Bonny is a good one!

Thought of a good one.....ask if you could breed them since your aunt has one!

I think that is a good cover due to the fact we all know Mary can't act too dumb when it comes to the yorkie breed, plus gives her a way to ask more questions since Aunt has one!

1. How much are puppies?
2. Do you have any yorkiepoos?
3. Do you have any teacup yorkies?

I really think this guy is a puppy broker, he lists so many breeds and he probably breeds a few, and then sells for others as well. I'm not sure we can really do anything about these people, appealing to them to get another job doesn't work. As pet lovers we can try to get responsible legislation passed that improves the conditions of dogs living in commercial facilities, and we should always encourage others to visit the premises before they purchase a pet. From his website, it looks as though that Bob is some type of trainer, and is selling dogs for home protection, as they seem to be the larger breeds, that's the best case scenario, the worst is that he's involved in the dog fighting scene.

Do all of you think it's wrong to have a sign somewhere (like on your car) saying that you sell AKC Yorkshire Terrier Puppies?? If so, I'm in BIG trouble!!! I live about 45 miles from Lancaster, CA and do NOT HAVE A PUPPY MILL, but I do sell puppies. Yorkie puppies ONLY!!! Am I wrong in having a sign on my car that says that?? It is not a home made sign. It is one that I designed, but had a sign company make it.

This is my opinion and my opinion only. When you advetise as you do, it appears that (and please don't take this the wrong way) you are running a business..selling puppies.

I know nothing about your breeding practices, so there is no way I'm judging you. I can only offer my opinion based on my beliefs.....It just shouldn't be done.
