Here's my problem with ytca breeders...before I bought it from my current breeder, I did go to ytca to ask them about their dogs...it seemed like evertlyone was selling their puppies at 1500 or more...unfortunately I'm a working student and am not willing to spend that much on a pet. I would understand paying 2500 for a dog if I was showing or breeding my own but I'm just looking for the perfect pet. I thank everyone for their advice but I don't think I could have found a better breeder at my pricerange but like I said, we are going to keep him there for a week more weeks and she has no problem. And again thank for all the advice. |

Trust me when I tell you that I know how excited you must be and you want this baby home asap. Just telling you from my experience. I got a puppy at around 8 or 9 wks old and it was NOT ready to be seperated from it's mom yet and it cried for a whole week. I got one at 12 weeks and it adjusted within 24 hrs and no crying or whimpering at all. Congratulations on your new baby! I dont know why the breeder would be suggesting taking the yorkie home so young? I dont think this will be a 3.5 lb yorkie. Usually by 8-12 weeks is a better "guesstimate" At 12 weeks you double the weight and that is an estimate. I got my male yorkie at 12 weeks old and he weighed 24 oz= 1 lb 8 oz. If your puppy is weighing 13 oz by 7 wks old then that might end up a small dog under 4 lbs. This is only an estimate though. Gen |

There are many good, reputable, responsible breeders that have nice healthy puppies for under $1000. You just have to do some research. I wish you luck with your new little one. |
2 Attachment(s) After great consideration, I might consider giving up my $300 deposit for the sake of a good dog. I found a breeder that sounds good but I was wondering if anyone had any experiences with heavenly terriers of indiana ( Heavenly Yorkshire Terriers - Yorkshire Terrier Puppies For Sale ) they are 11weeks now and already neutered (because their neutered thats already $150 saved from my deposit). Any thoughts oh also are the pictures of the two puppies they have available. Do they look good for an 11week old? Their fur looks more fluffy than i've seen from pictures of 11week olds but thats why im looking to you guys for advice. |

AMEN TO THAT!! As a mother of a little biter who came home at 7.5 weeks, i would highly recommend that you NEVER bring a pup home before 12 weeks unless you want a lifetime of ankle biting, chasing feet, and hand/finget biting to deal with!!!! Not to mention my personal opinion is that you should get your deposit back on this dog and DO NOT go with the breeder you choose. This person is 100% NOT responsible and probably getting you into a whole heap of trouble and a lifetime of possible health problems and sky high vet bills. PLEASE don't do what i did and ignore these YTers, LISTEN to them, they really know what they're talking about, i'm telling you from experience i did the exact thing you are about to do and it wasn't the right thing. hope that you listen and get your deposit back |

you sound JUST LIKE ME!! and i promise you that when the vet bills pile up past 1000, you will regret fully that you didn't buy from a YTCA breeder and get a quality, healthy, pure bred standard Yorkie instead of taking a BIG risk on a BYB. It may be affordable NOW, but there's such a high risk of developing health problems later that it's really not worth it. If you can't pay 1000 for a yorkie, then you shouldn't buy a dog at all, because what will you do when you have to pay for all the shots, vet appt. spay, meds. ext. that easily add up past 1000????? |
I brought one puppy home at 6 weeks. She did fine health wise but never learned social skills with her littermates. She does not know how to play with other dogs and be happy. I have to keep her and my other females seperate 24/7. She loves people and really a sweet girl. I have tried with her for over 2 years and sadly it has came to the point I am going to have to rehome her with no other pets. I jumped when I bought her..the breeder insisted I take her home that day. She was born the same day as my father passed away and my emotions took over. |
I just wanted to welcome you to Yorkie Talk. Great site for tons of information on Yorkies!!! A lot of wonderful caring people here that are passionate about the breed. Congrats on your new furbaby!:) |

As their early history is a big unknown, and from some of the problems I've witnessed with them, I will assume they did not spend the recommended amount of time with their moms and littermates, which led to inappropriate behaviors developing in the first place. Which then could have very well led to their abuse (using the wrong training methods to try to correct bad/unwanted behaviors). It is sad to think all this could have been avoided by allowing them to spend the appropriate amount of time with their moms and siblings, and maybe that would have prevented them being dumped/turned over to the Humane Society in the first place. The lessons that puppies learn from their moms and littermates between the ages of 8-12 weeks are critical to the pup's overall wellbeing, and it so much more important than any bonding experience with humans at that stage in their development. Yorkies are amazing little dogs, and can adapt to just about any situation. It's just easier on all involved to allow Mother Nature to do her job. Don't you think that through all the years and years of people breeding and raising Yorkies for them to come up with the idea to wait till after the 12th week that there is a good reason for doing so? Don't you think that issues have been evaluated and experiments done to the point of exhaustion to find the best method of raising a Yorkie so that their health and mental wellbeing is at the best level when they do get to their new homes? Thereby creating the best overall environment to give them a wonderful start in their new life, and to be the best pet they can be, without the owners having to train and correct behaviors that should never have developed in the first place? Bonding will occur much more rapidly between and owner and a well adjusted pup, than it will between an owner and a pup who has issues, not that it can't be done, bc it can, it just takes more work and more time, on the owner's part. |

I found an old thread on Heavenly Terriers and one YT member Sookie has purchased from them, here is the link: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/bre...-beware-3.html I guess it's confusing because there is a Heavenly Yorkshire & Heavenly Terrier both in IN and the Heavenly Yorkshire is the problem one mentioned in this thread. The problem one is NOT the one you are looking at! I think that puppy looks adorable! Wrigley was fluffy when we brought her home at 12 weeks! |
