| My puppy isn't barking? Hi everyone! I'm new to this board and new as a yorkie owner. We got our puppy about a month ago and she's just such a cutie and the whole family loves her. She's 5 months old so I got her when she was 4 months old. We're working on housetraining (it's going a bit slowly!) but my question is... In the month that I've had her, I've never heard her bark. She doesn't whine either. Ever. I have heard her growl sometimes when she plays with her toys but is it unusual to have a yorkie that doesn't bark? Thank you! |

| Wow! Feel blessed bc I have a 6 yr old Jack-a-poo who barks for everything! I am considering private training bc I can't take it anymore. I was told sometimes it takes them a while to learn that they can bark and if they don't have other dogs around them to learn it, sometimes they won't bark for a long while.

| LOL sorry for the chuckle but I thought the samething when I brought Buddy home at 3 1/2 mos. He didn't find his voice untill about 6mos old. One night I heard a very loud dog bark and couldn't beleive it was him. It sounded like a german shepard! Give her time she'll find her voice, then you'll need to train her, No Barking. Some don't bark too much, maybe you'll be lucky. Congratulations and good luck, |

| Enjoy the quiet while it lasts..... sooner or later she will discover her voice. At first you'll think it's cute then you just hope she doesn't use it too much.

| First time I hear of someone wanting their dog to bark ! Enjoy the quiet while it lasts. Mine found their voice around 6 months and never stopped since (grrr.) Hope yours stays that way. Good luck. Yorkies are just yappers by nature.

| Well your right about the cute part, my puppy learned to bark and growl in the past week and it's the cutest thing. I don't want to tell her hush but.. I'm sure I won't think it's so cute when she's bigger and barking non-stop but for now it's the most adorable thing ever. I'll learn soon. |

| We got Kona last August when she was 7 years old. My husband didn't hear her bark for 3 days! She is not a barker, she only does it when someone rings the doorbell or when she hears my husband open the garage door. Maybe you will have one like mine that isn't a big barker! She is the BEST dog!

Donating YT 30K Club Member | The yorkies I had years ago when they were my only dog rarely barked. I could go months with out hearing Zorro or Gracie bark. Then I got a pom and wow talk about barking. Then each new dog I brought in learned to bark from her. So maybe your baby will be a quiet one!!

| My old Ginger scared herself right under the bed the first time she barked! I've never had a more quiet, loving dog than my Ginger, she rarely barked. |
