| Those dead-gum hawks!!! Just a heads up, and also wondering if anyone else is seeing the hawks an awful lot, here lately? The last couple of days, it seems everytime I go out in the back-yard, I see a couple of hawks flying around, looking for a meal...Around 11, today, I went out w/the "kids", and I heard them squealing and circling my back yard! I got so scared, I ran to the patio door and was calling the dogs, and they weren't coming in...I think, finally, they must have heard the fear in my voice, and they came running in...Just now, we went outside to do "business", and there they were, again, making the same noise...This time, the dogs came running in w/me...I'm hoping the they're associating that "noise" w/danger, and will always come in w/me...I know there are some that say "do the puddle pads", but that's not an option w/Apple...She just never never ever would do pads, but is quite willing to "go pee pee" every single time I go outside...She's amazing, she'll go on command...Buzz is doing better, too, although, in a pinch, he'll use the pads...Ya'll be careful, I guess it's that time of the year, when they are feeding their young... |

| They are bad here where I live in TN too. I hear them outside all the time. My two are pee pad trained so I don't let them out unless the weather is good and they are on their leashes.

| There bad here too, we saw 4 or 5 Sunday afternoon, we have had so much rain I am wondering if they are having a hard time finding food. the ground water level is way up and our creek is right at bridge level now. we live in the country we see hawks all the time, but we have never seen them in flight formation 5 at a time.

| We have them in Norther Illinois. We never let the Yorkie out alone, one of us always goes with her, and she goes close to the house, and the big dog is always out there with her. Not much you can do but be careful, and know they are there. Coyotes are more of a menace though. They can jump an 8 foot fence and be gone before you know it. Maybe I should develop a "weighed" Vest that the Yorkie wears in the yard so the bird can't lift off! Bullet proof, bird proof, and they get a nice workout in the process. |

| I also worry a lot about those blankity blank hawks. I did fix up my yard to scare the darn things away and so far I've not seen or heard any. I did, however, get a scare a few weeks ago when I saw what I thought were hawks circling above. When I heard their cry I knew they weren't hawks but osprey. Take a look at this link,Ospreys, Osprey Pictures, Osprey Facts - National Geographic and you'll see why they can be mistaken for hawks. The osprey, however, is a fish hunter. It's a big, big bird with a wingspan up to 5 or 6 feet with very impressive talons.

| I'm just a little northwest of you, very close to the Brazos river, and I see them all the time. About a month ago, I had one circling overhead when I was taking Jezebel on a walk. It got within 20 feet, so I scooped her up and kept on walking, keeping an eye on the hawk. At over 8 lbs (and still growing), I don't think they could carry her off, but they could do a lot of damage while trying.

| I'm glad we don't have that problem where I live in California. I've heard so many stories about hawks flying off with little dogs |

| We have buzzards and hawks here however, since we are still under about a foot of snow, I haven't had the pleasure of seeing any. Fortunately we have Jack pad trained and never has to go outside to do his business. Y'all be careful with your little ones out there!
