| Any foster moms? I need help please! I just brought home a 6 month old female rescue yesterday. Max is not dealing with it well at all. Are there any foster moms that are used to dealing with different personalities willing to help me? There is too much to write, so perhaps I could contact you if you can help

Donating YT 500 Club Member | Do you have them separated for now? I always start out with a foster in a separate ex-pen for several reasons - the possibility of bringing in a disease, also it allows my kids to get used to the "presence" of the new foster. During the time they are separated and even afterwards I'll spend extra time with my more sensitive boy letting him know he's still he's still well-loved and this makes him feel more secure. Reno usually by then, accepts the new foster even if he doesn't just love them. And, he may never love them but as long as he respects their space and is tolerant, I'm okay with that.....just NO fighting! This method has always worked for me and as time goes on, I've had more fosters, Reno has been here longer and with each one he seems less sensitive and less threatened by the fosters existence here.

| First, thank you for taking this on. I've done some fostering, as well as some petsitting, although I'm sure there are many here with a lot more experience. Every situation has been different. Some dogs come in and fit in right away with little problem. Other times, we've had some serious jealousy issues with one or both of our furbutts. One thing I always do is keep them separated with a baby gate, etc., until everyone is on speaking terms. Also, with the foster and all the additional work, its easy to forget about your own little guy, but give him extra attention, he needs to know he's not losing his place in the world. Good luck! Send me a pm if you'd like to talk about any specific issues...I won't pretend to be an expert, but would be willing to try to help.

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I have only fostered once so I don't have any experience other than when I brought home a 3 month old pom puppy from a puupymill auction to foster. I was clueless. I let her go right with my 3 and she ended up with Giardia, thankfully mine didn't catch it. One of mine really disliked her and would go after her. It took about 3 weeks and they were all laying together. S0 hopefully with some time and space it will work out. Hopefully some of our experienced rescuers will see this.

| I'm still new to fostering, so I can't help you with my experience. Jencar gave some good advice. I'd recommend you pm ladyjane. She has fostered numerous pups and always has excellent advice. Thank you so much for helping this little one!

The only thing I would add, which I know Jen does herself, is to keep them from even so much as a nose sniffing. I am sending you a pm.

| Ladyjane and Jencar98, First off, thank you so much for your time yesterday. I wanted to update you both on what's going on. Lily is coming around. She is wagging her tail and wants to play. Max doesn't really play, but he seems to be tolerating her. She is chasing him around the dining room table, he stops and barks at her then starts running again. He's trying to be big and bad but then running off??? Kinda funny to see actually. He's not going up to her xpen and barking anymore. We all went to pick my daughter up from school today and they sat together in the front seat, well for a few minutes anyway until he jumped down on the floor. I've been taking them out to potty together. She takes longer and he just sits and waits for her with me. He's getting lots of praise! I am so proud of him. As far as her incision, I had to take her back in again this morning. It was oozing a little last night. It scabbed over by the time I got her in, so the vet wasn't too impressed. We'll just continue to watch it. That's all for now....I'll keep you all posted.

Thank you for offering. I wasn't necessarily looking for a foster mom to take Lily, as much as I was looking for advice on how to handle different personalities in the home. Things are a little better today and will hopefully be even better tomorrow.

| Her incision is looking better every day. She needs to keep it on for a few more days. It doesn't seem to bother her too much. She still eats with it on and she sleeps fine so I'll leave it on as long as the wound is not completely healed. She is adorable..she's like a little teddy bear. She follows Max everywhere. I had a friend over to visit today and she was very vocal about it. She may not be as timid as I fist thought..she was a little fiesty!
