| If used properly it really shouldn't. Marking is different from having a need to go pee. As long as your taking your boy out for regular potty breaks (without the belly band of course) it doesn't take away from potty training. I used it to help potty train Kaji to his new home, to help with his excited peeing when I come home from work, and to prevent him from marking in other people's homes. Not that I think he would, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. The only way it would be detrimental to potty training is if you were to leave the belly band on all the time and never give them a chance to go out and potty or to take them to the piddle pad. If not given the chance they will completely pee in the belly band and after a while they will associate the band with just letting their bladders go, which really isn't the purpose of the belly band.

| Belly bands are wonderful for those marking boys, or when you take your boys to other people homes, or as I use them for my show dogs in hotel rooms. I have special ones that I make for those show dogs that fit through the wraps and only cup them underneath. But, you do have to make sure you change the pads often and not to put the bands on too tight, as you can contribute to a UTI.
