My next informational question What is this belly band I keep reading about for males? Is it just a Yorkie thing as I have never seen one on any dog. |
Its a band that goes around the tummy of a male dog so when he lifts his leg it catches all the urine. It is wonderful if you have a stud dog as they like to mark! Many people use them since they keep their yorkies in their houses. They are a life SAVER!! Our boy always has his on, but you have to change it so they keep clean. |
and he tolerates that? I would have a real problem if my wife bought one of those home for me! Thanks for the reply. That is what I thought |
I've only heard of it being used for stud/breeding dogs who mark all the time. |

My studs were them and they are a life saver! It prevents them from marking in the house! Mine have no problems wearing them, my husband on the other hand.....;):D |
do you a picture of your dog wearing the band? |

Gatsby who is not fixed (medical reasons) wears one every time he leaves the house he will not mark in his home or in the car but the second we get in the pet store he will mark on everything |
My Bogey has one on when no one is home. You never know when someone will show up at your door & he gets very excited! Or hears a noise & piddles. He loves getting it put on because he knows that it means a special chicken treat that he would DIE for. That's the only time he gets that treat. He crawls up my leg to put it on just so he will get his treat. |

It's for males that like to mark, put simply. With enough work and training, though, I don't think they're needed. I have two unfixed boys, 15 months and 21 months, and they NEVER mark in the house. They have before, but as soon as they started doing it, we worked very hard to teach them it was a no no. They do mark outside, but NEVER indoors. oh, and ps, we are getting them fixed, most likely either this march or april. We are in the process of buying a house, so saving up for neuters and a down payment on a house is taking a while...but it is being done! we've recently decided not to breed, so that is why they weren't fixed at 6 months. For the rest of the dogs that I have in my life, they will be getting fixed as soon as I get them or as soon as they're old enough - we are going to start fostering! Yay! sorry, I didn't mean to steal your thread...just thought I'd mention why they aren't fixed, and it evolved:D |
2 Attachment(s) I used it to help potty train my boy. He was a year old and wanted to mark even after his neuter. He doesn't wear them inside the house anymore. I still make him wear it when we go to other people's houses just in case. I don't want him to have any accidents. His old belly band was way to big and after a while he was able to wiggle out of it.
