| little Cerise's new home adventure Hi everyone! Cerise is finally with me. I took time off to help her adjust to her new home. It has been a challenging and rewarding combination that I wouldn't trade for nothing in the world. She did great flying from Birmingham, to Dallas (plane change) to Austin on Valentine's Day She was a bit nervous arriving to her new home, but with lots of hugs and kisses she warmed up to the idea. She sleeps with me and take has been a blessing to her adjustment. After two days she took over my TV chair...LOL But she realized it's mine to share with her, so she now moves over, and makes room for me when she sees me coming The biggest challenge was to get her to eat. She does not like dog food! She's very finicky. I had planned to cook for her and that is whats working. Though I spent the first four days hand feeding and coaching her. She was stubborn at first but since Friday she's been cleaning the plate on her own at each meal but only after I say "eat" for about ten times LOL Okay, what I need is advice on how to get her to drink her water. She was scared of the bowls I bought so I put the water in a very small coffee cup and held it, but I have to be persistent (I put the food on a small heart shaped plate the curves up) She will drink from a large bottle cap with ease She LOVES to go for walks and we have been going every morning and evening, even in the rain. I have a raincoat and jacket for her. I take her to an adorable neighborhood park and she loves it in the mornings, but is still nervous about the crowd she sees in the evenings. This probably will change over time. Oh and she has been completely quiet this last week and only made a little sound when she was dressed on Saturday to go walking and I was not getting myself ready fast enough, LOL Cindy thank you so much for this lovely baby!

| Congratulations . Not everyone is lucky enough to be able to take time off for a new arrival of the 4-footed variety . I think it's a very good thing. My husband was disabled, so he was able to stay home with them when we got each of them. I had to go to work, and it *killed* me to leave in the morning; I would call home 10 times a day to check on them (and yeah, him, too ). I couldn't wait until quitting time so I could get back home. As far as food and water is concerned, check with her breeder regarding what she ate and how she drank. Sometimes puppies are trained to a bottle that hangs off the side of a crate ... they don't spill and are much less messy. Pups take to them easily 'cause they're kinda like Mom . Otherwise, if she's more comfortable with small water containers to begin with, go ahead and indulge her for now, gradually moving up in size over a few weeks. Enjoy your new baby. |

| Yay! I'm glad to hear she's home and doing so well!! I wonder what she was drinking out of at Cindy's? Each of mine is sooooo picky about what they will/will not eat/drink from. Just slowly try new things until you find the one she likes to use. Have you posted pictures yet? I wanna see her.

| awww how great! Sounds like you both are a match made in heaven! She will learn to drink from her bowl and she'd even learn to eat when she is hungry and thirsty enough. I used to fawn over my boys until I realized all it was doing was making them hold out for something better (smart boys!). LOL Now I put down the food and water and they will eat it when they are hungry and drink when they are thirsty! Your baby will need some more adjustment time but soon she'll be doing her own thing right at home!

| thanks ya'll! She is still adjusting. Everyday is getting better. She pays attention to everything I do and I can tell she is very smart. She is also very dainty and feminine. I love it! I will take pictures this coming weekend to post.

| I'm so glad you have her home now. Sounds like she fits right in. Have you tried a kitty bowl. They're smaller and might not frighten her that she could fall in and drown!lol

| I am so so sorry that I missed your post. I have had a house full of YTers since Friday and haven't been logged on but one quickie to answer a couple of pm's. At her birth home she was drinking out of an antique red pyrex mixing bowl. It has been in my family since before I was born and I'm older than dirt. I wonder if it's the TASTE of the water rather than the bowl? Sometimes my guys are fussy about water when we travel. You might try getting a gallon of drinking water and mixing it with your tap water. It makes my heart leap with joy knowing that you two have bonded well. When I met you at the airport, I KNEW that Cerise had found the perfect mom. |

Thanks Cindy! I just adore her. She is a little princess for sure. The water bowl does have me laughing Perhaps she thinks she should have a coffee cup to drink out of like me...LOL After she wouldn't use the food bowl I put her food on the matching saucer (of the coffee cup) but the food fell off, so I went out and bought her the small heart shaped plate/bowl. It's very low and she likes it
