Congratulations
. Not everyone is lucky enough to be able to take time off for a new arrival of the 4-footed variety
. I think it's a very good thing. My husband was disabled, so he was able to stay home with them when we got each of them. I had to go to work, and it *killed* me to leave in the morning; I would call home 10 times a day to check on them (and yeah, him, too
). I couldn't wait until quitting time so I could get back home.
As far as food and water is concerned, check with her breeder regarding what she ate and how she drank. Sometimes puppies are trained to a bottle that hangs off the side of a crate ... they don't spill and are much less messy. Pups take to them easily 'cause they're kinda like Mom
. Otherwise, if she's more comfortable with small water containers to begin with, go ahead and indulge her for now, gradually moving up in size over a few weeks.
Enjoy your new baby.
