| ![]() I shave Laci all the time, ON purpose, I happen to like it, that said she does grow really quickly, you will be surprised how quick it grows... Im sure its a shock to see all his puppy hair gone... I bet he still looks cute! My friend is from Norwood and has a yorkie, she uses Nancy's Grooming 164 Walpole Street, Norwood, MA 02062-3222 (781) 762-8111 they do an adorable cut there, she even sits and waits... you may want to try them next as they are not much more the petco or petsmart!

| ![]() I would take him some where else, I personaly dont like petsmart/petco grooming. I would find a Pet salon where you can pick a groomer and talk to them one on one. Yorkies hair grows fast!! At least Pnuts does. I usualy will have pnut hair pretty short myself, but I am trying something different and growing it out. Just relax, it sucks that they didnt listen to you, but at least you dont have it worse, Like they nicked him or something like that. His hair will grow. Take this as a lesson and find a better groomer

| ![]() I just had an idea as to how to help if you do take your Yorkie (or any dog) to petco or petsmart for grooming. Write down a list of what you want and make 2 copies. Give the list to the groomer and tell them this is exactly what you want (you might include on the bottom a statement that says you won't pay if it is something completely not right (like you said trim and the dog comes back shaved) and ask them to sign the list you keep so when you go back and it's not right you can show it to the manager. You then have a contract with them in a sense. I've never had Sophie groomed there so I don't know if you have to sign anything or not, but if you do see if it has something similar to a no-pay clause in it or something that says you have to pay regardless. The make your own contract is sort of skirting contract law, but it might work. Can you tell I worked for an attorney for 6 years (dealing with contracts) and I'm married to one, too? ![]() |

| ![]() I agree, I don't like Petco/Petsmart grooming either. I have never heard anything positive about them, especially on this site, lol. I would recommend trying to find a new groomer, or even grooming your baby yourself. My boyfriend and I groom our furbutts and it saves us so much money! You do have to invest in a good pair of clippers and some scissors, grooming tools, and such but it is worth it in the long-run. If you groom yourself then you can personally decide how to do the cut and exactly how much to take off. And if you mess up.. you can't be mad at anyone but yourself. ![]() His hair will grow back soon enough! I am sure he looks adorable though. I personally love the shaved, puppy cut look. ![]()

| ![]() I was thinking about taking Natalie, our 16 wk old puppy, to the local Petsmart for her first trim, because I was hoping I could just wait for her (the groomer I use for my schnauzer only works weekdays so I have to leave her the whole day until I can get her after work). Anyhoo... we were in Petsmart picking up a few things today and there was a Yorkie being groomed. We watched as the groomer worked on his face. She had a hunk of his beard hair in one hand and looked like she was yanking on him while she wielded the scissors really close to his eyes. The poor thing looked miserable and was trying to crouch down and back away from her. ![]() ![]() Thinking no on Petsmart for first trim now. I really don't want to leave her for the entire day somewhere (truth be told I'm not in love with my current groomer but she's the lesser of the local evils). I would love to have someone come to my home and do it, but we live in a really small town. I doubt anyone offers that here. Never heard of anyone. With what I pay, thinking it might be worth just investing in some equipment myself, may wander over to eBay... ![]() Those of you who groom yourself, what equipment do you have? |

| ![]() I'm sorry that the groomer shaved your baby and didn't follow your directions. Be sure to hug and love him and tell him he is adorable so that he doesn't confuse your anger and frustration with the groomer as being upset with him. He probably feels different -- my guy acts like I stole his mojo when I simply trim his ears (he has a full coat). Maximo also gets self conscious when I start staring to check whether I got things even. Make sure you show your baby smiles, not grimaces. ![]() |

| ![]() I absolutely would not have paid the bill! I don't have my yorkie yet, but when it comes time to take her to the groomer, I will find a salon near me only after I have researched reviews online to find the best place. I have heard horrible things about the groomers at Petco and Petsmart. I was in Petsmart the other day and I stopped by the groomers area to watch them and see how they interacted with the dogs... they all looked very bored and didn't even smile when they made eye contact with me. My Sasha will never go there...

I was looking at a website for one of our local upscale doggy spas and was sickened when I saw pictures of kennels with the dryers hooked to the doors. Brought back terrible memories of the thread here of the poor Yorkie who was nearly scalded to death by such a dryer. I will always do my own grooming on my doggies. | |
