| TOYS ? Anything stuffed with a squeaker is gutted promptly. I gave up buying cute stuffed toys years ago. I do buy Kong and Nyla bone toys. If we weren't fearful about them eating stuffing and plastic, most of us would let them rip open and kill toys on a regular basis. It is a very doggy thing to do. When Gracie played with fleece scraps I was inspired. This is how I make toys for my Yorkies, it is Gracie's famous 'Pink Baby'. I buy fleece, one yard will make tons of toys. Cut 4 inch wide strips. Then cut the strips into 8 inch lengths. This is a candy bar shape. I use 3 layers of fleece for each side, no stuffing. I double stitch 3 sides. Then I put a kong squeaker ball inside the pillow case shaped toy and stitch the bottom closed. I cut the edges with pinking shears. You can use a permeant black marker to make a happy face or black thread to make face if you desire. Another toy is just triple strips of fleece knotted, they love to play tug with these. IMHO People should not play tug with dogs, but is fine for them to play tug with each other.

| I feel so lucky.... Toys around here last forever!! Mine play fetch with them, tug of war, and constant squeaking.... But except for a small hole maybe every 3 months, I never have problems... Uh oh, maybe I just jinxed myself!!!

| The only thing I found to last are kongs, nylabones and those stuffing free animals...I think are called Crazy Critters. They cost 9.99. |

| Love the fleece toy idea! guess we'll have to make one. Abby chewed the coating off the kong tennis ball and I took it away, now I can repurpose it! We weave fleece strips, either braided or lanyard weaving, they are really some of our best and favorite toys. I also sew rectangle scraps of fleece on top of one another (3-5 layers thick) and then cut towards the middle, kind of like a rag quilt. they toss them! |

| Kongs are pretty much the only toys that last more than a few minutes in our house. I found a Kong rope toy the other day and bought it immediately. It was in the shape of a monkey and had a small squeaker in the head. Well, the monkey was legless within an hour. Then he lost his arms. Now he's just a head on a rope. I may give the Wubba a try.

| I have a toy-killer as well. We have good luck with Kongs, Nylabones, and medium-sized Cuz balls (which are so big he can only really carry them around by the feet). I also buy stuffing-free squeaky toys (Skinneez, Crazy Critters, etc.) - they get torn apart and de-squeakered, but there isn't the stuffing mess to clean up or worry about. My crazy boy still plays with the carcasses when the squeaker is gone.

| Donating YT 4000 Club Member | There is a line of fleece toys that come "unstuffed". One less thing to pull out. Kong makes some smaller versions with squeaker toys in the head that can be replaced. We've actually had 2 of these since we first brought Miss Scarlett home more than a year ago and they've lasted even when everything else has gotten trashed. | I should preface this by saying that my pooch doesn't really live up to his name (Chewie)--he's not really a toy destroyer at all. However, have you looked into Skinneeez toys? The one we have is a stuffing-free plush with squeakers in both ends. We've had it about a year, it's tolerated all kinds of tug (including tug with my sister's Boxer) and several rounds through the washer, and I can't even see anyplace where the stitching is starting to come undone. Plus it's floppy!
