| Vacation I'm leaving on a vacation to Mexico tomorrow, and I'm sooooo anxious about leaving Layla! I have gone on vacation and left her before, but she stayed with my parents who I know spoil her more than I do This time, my parents are coming with me. I was going to leave her with my grandma because she is there a lot and it's a familiar place, but then she decided to come to Mexico too! I'm excited about the family vacation, but I feel sick about leaving her. She will be staying with my aunt and uncle now. I'm sure she will get a lot of attention... my aunt LOVES animals but they travel so often they don't have anything but a cat. Layla and the cat are both pretty shy so I don't think there will be too much worry with them being together. We are taking her over there tonight because we need to be at the airport early in the morning. I don't know how I will sleep without her beside me! I know I'm probably going to cry when we leave her! I just have to tell myself she'll be okay. I'm not the only crazy person here, right?

| I know how you feel. We just got Missy in Nov. and now we are going to Jamaica in Sept. and we can't even decide who we should have watch Missy. My mom would have been perfect but she just passed away last Aug. and we're going with my brother who would have been our second choice. My oldest daughter has two mastiffs and a german shepard and my other daughter has a great dane puppy and an english bull doggie. None of them as as "size appropriate" as we would like. Not sure what we are going to do. |

| Sorry to hear about your mom At least you have a lot of time to figure it out... I didn't know who I was going to have watch Layla until a month ago. Do you have any neighbors that might do it? I was hoping Layla would get along with my brother's new basset hound puppy, because they are getting a friend to watch her and their two cats for the next week. Maybe if they were friendly, it wouldn't be so hard on Layla. Unfortunately, Layla is absolutely terrified of the dog AND the two cats They're all just too loud and rambunctious for her!

| Thanks! It really helps to hear stuff like that! There is a computer in the lobby of our hotel in Mexico so I can hopefully keep in touch while I'm gone. Even just to know she's fine after a day would help me stop worrying!

| Thank you! Right now I'm kind of looking more forward to getting back from vacation than going on vacation

| I have to drag my wife on vacation as she does not want to leave Maxine. We have our oldest daughter watch her, She may not eat the first day, but then she starts and she is always fine when we get back. The big Dog goes to the Training center and stays there in the Penthouse. He gets a Car shaped Bed, 30 minutes of training, a 30 minute walk, Play time outside with the day care dogs, and then is also the "demo dog" when new people stop in. He loves it there, but it cost me $65 a day for that....but at his age, he deserves the best. No we would never BOARD the Yorkie. We would hire someone to stay at the house for a week if we had to. Your dog will be fine. They are resilient. |

| You may want to take her there for an hour before the day you leave, so she can check the place out. It will help when you do drop her off. Regardless, she will be just fine. |

| I know how you feel. I am in Colorado as we speak and been here since Sunday morning. I go back tomorrow afternoon. The first night is always sooo weird without Jackson in my bed. I leave him with my dad, stepmom, bro, and their 2 dogs when I go away where I know he gets spoiled & has fun but if I had it my way -- he would always be with me! I don't know what I would do if my dad couldn't watch him. I've got my mom and stepdad but I don't really trust them as much, lol, and they work all the time.

| I don't trust anyone with Layla as much as I trust my parents with her! I'm happy I'm taking a vacation with my parents but sad they aren't dog-sitting. I'm not sure what the work schedules are like for my aunt and uncle next week either but I'm sure people will be around more than they are at my house. My aunt works shifts as a nurse, but my uncle works full time and will be gone during the day. Their youngest daughter, a college student, still lives at home as well so I'm sure she'll be around! Layla spends most of her days sleeping anyway so I'm sure I'm just being a little too worried

| She will be fine. I had to leave Maddie with my mom and dad, who also spoil her rotten, for 3-4 days back in August. She did great! Now, whenever we pull into thier driveway she starts wimpering and shaking with excitement. She jumps out and runs straight in to the fridge! My dad just grins and no one claims to know why she does this...I probably don't want to know. I would leave any vet information you have with your aunt and uncle, numbers and names and such. I also wrote down Maddie's schedule, although I don't think it was followed very well. My mom hates to think oif anyone starving...I'm sure she ate like a pig. Relax and have fun! She will be fine, an hour or two and you will be mommy who? |
