| A scary Sunday morning I'm dog-sitting this weekend for a friend - she has an adorable Beagle mix, Molly, whom I love dearly. Our backyard is fenced, but only well enough to keep Oliver in. Molly has been going outside with a line attached to her harness. Well, this morning, she managed to somehow get that line off, jumped the fence, and RAN. I live on a busy street, really busy. I immediately threw on shoes and ran outside with jerky treats (worked for Oliver the one time he got out.. oh, and I was in my pj's with my hair partially up in a clip and some down that I was straightening.. oh yeah.. I looked great) and just started screaming her name. I am just getting over strep throat and an awful chest cold, so you can imagine how bad I feel now with all the screaming and running! Thank GOD my neighbor was outside and sprang into action. I spotted her (which is a miracle in itself as I didn't have my glasses on) and he ran across the busy street to get her (after watching with horror as SHE darted across said busy street) and she is now safely playing with Oliver. She is going out on a LEASH from now on, not taking any chances. Thanks for letting me vent to people who will understand what an awful morning it's been! I am going to go cough up a lung now and try to figure out how I am going to tell my friend that I nearly lost her baby!!

| Wow you did start the day off in a big way! Take a deep breath and relax with the furkids for a while...take care of yourself, that run and the scare couldn't have helped the cold or strep! |

| Definitely painful.. still coughing like crazy.. being outside in thin pj's on a Feb. morning in Canada while sick is always a bad combination. All I can think about is what could have happened had my neighbor not been outside. I likely couldn't have caught up to Molly while healthy, let alone sick. Thank God for him...

| Oh my! I can only imagine! Yesterday Gracie darted out the front door when my husband was coming in. We live on a QUIET street but even so I was panicking! Our neighbors dog whom she lets run loose can NOT be trusted where Gracie is concerned. I grabbed treats too to try and lure her. The little turd-she thinks it is fun to run from us! Boy did my husband get a scolding! LOL! Only us "moms" would understand! Hugs! |

| If you could have picked the worst combination for retrieving a runaway, that would be it!! I think her guardian angel was with her. I'd let her family know to get her obedience trained before she ends up flattened in the street.

| Beagles i believe are part of the hound family..my family's Bloodhound would always escape from their fenced-in yard, and this last time he hasn't come back I'm glad that your neighbor was there to grab her for you. Keeping her leashed even in her own yard may certainly be the best thing from now on! I hope you feel better. Being sick sucks. Get lots of rest and keep warm!

| I'm so glad you guys understand... lol.. my neighbor, as helpful and wonderful as he was, was looking at me like I was nutz for being in tears for a dog that wasn't even mine. Mine or not, she's in my care! And how awful would it have been to tell my friend that I lost her baby! I can't even bear the thought. We have otherwise had a relaxing day. They've been playing and sleeping, and I had a little nap too! Seems my wonderful ordeal has made my cough 300% worse. Luckily I live in Canada and have tomorrow off work for "Family day". I plan on parking my butt on the couch with some tea.. lol LilMissy - sure hope you all feel better soon too! The crap going around this year is AWFUL and long lasting! Thanks again for everyone's understanding and well wishes..

| That's so awful. I hope you don't get sicker than you were. I'm glad Molly is safe, but you sound a lot worse for the wear.
