| A question about CKC OK. This is probably a silly question, and you will have to forgive me, but I'm new at this. I was reading another thread and saw a small discussion on CKC (Continental Kennel Club). When I got my Rucker, this is how he was registered. I read that this is not good. Does this mean that he might not be a full-blooded yorkie? Leslie and Rucker |

| first let me say.........that you will hear alot of opinions about CKC...........and they are just that.......OPINIONS..................CKC.......... just happens to be the only club that will register a pup that isnt registered.........or like with some of my babies not Registerable with AKC.....i have splitters which AKC will not register cause they have Biewer in them.........and i have a Biewer.......which also cant be registered by AKC...........being AKC doesnt necessarily mean that he isnt full yorkie.........it could just simply mean possibly that his parents werent registered with AKC for some reason......could have just been the breeder's choice..........CKC is a great club dont let that worry you...........what you are reading about it are OPINIONS............and we all have one.........congrats on your fur baby im sure he is adorable

Donating YT 10K Club Member | Probably the biggest issue people have with CKC...they will register a dog as a specific breed based on pictures alone. That is not to say every breeder who uses CKC isn't reputable...it just leaves the avenue open for UNSCRUPTLOUS breeders.

| Because the Continental Kennel club will register based on pictures, it is not considered to be a reputable registery for those breeders who demand a bona fide purebred only registry. Being in Canada, I am a member of the Canadian Kennel Club which demands that any of my dogs or puppies must be registered with them or AKc whose parents must be registered by a bona fide reputable purebred only registry. A Biewar is not recognized in Canada or the US and by the admission of the Biewer Club of America, they are not purebred yorkies at all. Check out their website. |

| If you live in Canada, and the breeder tells you that the dog is CKC reg'd, ask it the CKC means Canadian Kennel Club, If so then your dog is a pure bred, The continental club can register anything, Last edited by Sophie 91; 02-08-2010 at 12:37 PM. |

| Yes, you are right. It is not as common here for someone to use Continental KC but I have seen the odd ad that does use that one but people think it is the Canadian Kennel Club. |

| Well I have a question and then an opinion. My question is, if CKC will register with a pic only, then how come they required me to send a copy of Kallie's AKC papers to them before they would let me register her with them? I talked to 2 different people on 2 different occasions before I sent the papers in..Does anybody know? I didn't ask them why, just what did I need to do to register her. Now to my opinion, everyone says that AKC means a good quality purebred dog.. Now take one look at my love bug Stewie.. He is AKC registered and is the best dog ever, but does anyone look at his appearance and think purebred or good quality???? Absolutely not.. So to me, he is all the verification I need that AKC does not mean much!! Plus when I called them to report horrible conditions at a BYB, they said "We don't have anybody in that area to deal with it, sorry" |
