| We've created a monster! Our little Jax is both diabetic and blind. He is our snuggle bug boy and we adore him. We try and make him as comfortable and happy as we can. He now knows and understands how much we adore him and here is where the problem comes in. All of our puppers sleep in our room with us. Jax snuggles down between the two of us each night. Sometimes he would wake us to get up and go potty. One of us would take him down and he would do his business, I would usually give him a small snack to make sure his sugar stayed high enough through the night and back to sleep he would go until 5am. As the weeks went on, the waking times became more frequent. We would go through the routine and back to bed. Well, now we are up about every 2 hrs through the night and I think expecting a snack. I started to check his sugar when he got up, it is usually around the normal mark so no more snacks. Golly, do we just try tough love a few nights in a row to get him back on track? We have created a monster!! LOL....

| Can you give him something that wouldn't affect his blood sugar, like a small bite of chicken or a green bean? But then, perhaps you would rather break him of the habit altogether ....

| I usually give him a bite of homemade chicken jerky and steamed green beans. He gets a lot of green beans because they are a filler and do not really effect his blood sugar. I think I am just going to have to cut snacks through the night all together.

| Hope it gets better soon. It must be tough waking up that often throughout the night! |

Donating YT 30K Club Member | I have the same problem with my Pixie, she got use to getting up during the night when my Pom was sick her last couple of years and needed to go out frequently during the night. Now Pixie wakes me up 2-3 times during the night. I have tried ignoring her for up to 30 minutes and then give in and give her a treat so I can go back to sleep. I know the only way to break her is to hold out and ignore her for as long as it takes so that is probably what you will have to do. Good luck.

| I sure do feel for you. I'm a sleeper and that would kill me or maybe not, since it was my baby. Bless you heart and his. I hope you work something out. How about keeping a green bean or two in the nightstand so if he get's up just give him one. This was a trick I use to use on Buddy when he was a puppy so he would leave me alone and let me sleep in on Sat and Sun. |
