| Too much exercise? Hey, you guys know how yorkies are go-go-go. I've been reading a lot and people warn about overdoing exercise for young dogs, like, no bike riding, no jogging, etc. for fear of I forget, something about bones and discs not ______ fused??? sorry I forget. Does it apply to lightweight yorkies? |

| I don't really know what you are asking. But felt bad for no one responding to your question. So here goes.I think puppies get enough exercise just playing with their owners and being puppies! You don't want to be too rough with them.Sorry if this isn't what you were asking about.???

| Mine will just flop when they've had enough. I think if you took them for too long a walk while they're young it might hurt them, but don't feel around the house they would be over exercised. Hugs Shirl x x |

| While I can't give you an exact answer, I know with my Shepherd I had to be careful with exercising him as a puppy. As far as a lightweight yorkie, I would think that if you did some ratio (weight/bones,etc) the ratio would be the same whether you had a shepherd, a collie, or a yorkie. But unless you are out making them run miles and not letting them sleep, I think they will choose when they have had enough and everything will be fine. |

| Thanks guys. While I was looking for a good reference to 'too much puppy exercise', I found the clip below, which I think is alleviating my fears. Also, 10 miles is the last thing I had in mind, just around a few blocks here and there by bike, at a brisker pace for the pup than I feel like walking. So I'm thinking it is probably ok. But this pup never tires! After running, he is amped and wants more! I've never seen him get tired, just bored. why you quitting?! why you quitting?! why you quitting?! let's go let's go! Anyway here's the clip about the bones thing, says little dogs are probably good to go. Quote:
