| ? about Top Knots I have decided to let Tuckers hair grow and it is now long enough for a top knot. I have some questions. How long do you leave their hair up in the top knot? Do you take it out at night and put it up during the day? Or, just do it for special dates? I just thought to leave it up all the time might give the little guy a head ache. Right now his hair is dropping down in his eyes. I am tempted to do bangs again. I have done a top knot a few times and just wondered if it bothered him. I tried to keep it loose and not tight. I guess this sounds crazy but I just worry about how he feels when his hair pulled up. Personally, my head hurts if my own hair is pulled back for over 4 or 5 hours. |

| I am a huge fan of the topknot. What I do is put Chewy's hair up during the day and then take it out at night. Instead of bands, I use barrettes - you know, the plastic pastel colored ones that we used when we were little girls??? I can send you a pic if you don't know. These are great because they hold the hair, they have the teeth grips and they are sooooo easy to put in. They don't seem to bother him at all. |

| I keep Gus' topknot in all day but always take it out at night. His hair falls down and covers his eyes completely. Every morning he runs over to have it put up but he does like when I take it out at night and rub his little head (I make sure it is never tight). A while back I found a website where groomers were talking about customers leaving topknots in from one appointment to another and the dogs would get big welts on their heads. Poor babies.

Yorkie Kisses are the Best! Donating Member | Erin...I do the SAME thing with the girls - every night they get a little head massage and love it but I keep theirs up during the day - Chanels hair is so long - at night l just use a little clip that keeps only the hair that would prevent her from seeing up...so they have REAL topknots in the day.... and just a little crab-claw clip at night |

| Get the cute plastic clips in the Walmart Baby section. I just bought some more yesterday. You can use the tiny butterflies or ladybugs , but I found the next size up were much better because they had the little gripper teeth and snap right in. Yesterday I bought ones with bows. Personally I found they are WAY easy to put in and not nearly as much pulling and twisting as a topknot with a band

| I would take it out at night. I like the clips, Princess will leave it in longer. I think the bands hurt her, because she always gets them out.

| I know the barrettes and bows in the top knots look adorable but aren't they just a target? Boog used to pull Maggie's bows out all the time...he'd grab her little head and pull her around til it was gone! If I put barrettes on Jo & Riley someone would get hurt! I love the look but everytime I start showing my husband pictures of the cutsie bows and outfits he says 'Run boys run!! Men...what the heck do they know anyway?? |
