Get the cute plastic clips in the Walmart Baby section. I just bought some more yesterday. You can use the tiny butterflies or ladybugs , but I found the next size up were much better because they had the little gripper teeth and snap right in. Yesterday I bought ones with bows.
Personally I found they are WAY easy to put in and not nearly as much pulling and twisting as a topknot with a band
