| How do I let go of my Brody? Brody went to the vet today for his shots and the vet said not to waste my money his kidney values more than doubled since November. His bun is 92 and his creatinine is 4.5 and he doesn't feel he has much more time. The hard part is he is only 16 months old and even though I have 5 furbabies they are all different and special in their own way and I feel like life just won't be the same without him here. He has always been the life of the party and all the others always want to be with him and play with him. Even though I knew since he was 6 months old that his kidneys never developed and his life would be short I still can't let him go. I keep hoping he'll beat the odds and live longer than all the vets said he would. At this point he gets sick to his stomach everyday and doesn't want to eat much. The vet was surprised that he gained a little weight. I've been home cooking for him since he won't eat his kidney food anymore. He hasn't had a bad attack since the end of November I guess that is why I'm so upset I thought he was doing a little better. Thank you all for listening. It helps to be able to come here and talk about this where I know you understand how much my babies mean to me and how hard this is.

| How awful for both of you. Honey, I don't have the answers but I hope and pray you get the strength to do what it best for you. If he's suffering then you need to do something, if not then let nature take it's course. I am so sorry your Brody is so sick, Hugs, |

| I'm so sorry for you to have to face this. All I can tell you is that you'll know when it's time. As sad as that is, while right now he is just vomiting, he will invariably reach the point where his suffering is unbearable for him and you both. You'll know. That will be very hard for you. I'll send a prayer your way and his.

| I am so sorry for you and Brody. I lost a dog to kidney failure years ago she was a golden retriever and she was 12 yrs old. I can't imagine losing one so young. My heart goes out to you at this difficult time. What I did to help myself was I made a collage of all the funny pictures of Goldie and I put all her favorite toys in a bag along with a special letter to her and buried them under her favorite tree. I still have her ashes and it has been 6 year. I just can't part with them bc when I die I want her buried with me. I have her collage on the wall over my computer. I don't think you ever get over it, it just gets a lil easier with time. hugs go out to you~Joyce

YT 2000 Club Donating Member | My heart goes out to you. Hugs and prayers being sent your way. And what another poster said you with your great love for your dogs - will know - when it is time to let him go. Take lots of pics now - videos too - Try to get lots of you and him together, him with his packmates - everywhere any time. Spend as I'm sure you do that special time with him. Holding him, gently stroking along his back and sides. You can gently take his ear leather between thumb and forefinger and visualize light and warmth moving from one finger to the other. It is very relaxing for you both. Touch him everywhere - let your fingers memorize the 'feel" of him. Again I am so very very sorry
