I am so sorry for you and Brody. I lost a dog to kidney failure years ago she was a golden retriever and she was 12 yrs old. I can't imagine losing one so young. My heart goes out to you at this difficult time.
What I did to help myself was I made a collage of all the funny pictures of Goldie and I put all her favorite toys in a bag along with a special letter to her and buried them under her favorite tree. I still have her ashes and it has been 6 year. I just can't part with them bc when I die I want her buried with me. I have her collage on the wall over my computer.
I don't think you ever get over it, it just gets a lil easier with time.
