How do I let go of my Brody?

Thank you all for your kind words and support. It really means a lot to me to have friends that understand just how I'm feeling at such a difficult time. Even though I know there is nothing anyone can do to save my Brody it helps to talk about it. I joined yt looking for answers for Brody when I first got the news and soon learned that yt is a place I can come for great advice and a wealth of knowledge from people who really care.

I'll keep you all posted on how he is doing and thanks for the great suggestions on how to make my time left with Brody special.

I'm very sorry for you. If Brody is suffering you should let him go.I watched a friends dog die of kidney failure because his mom could'nt bear to have him put to sleep. It was horrible. Belive me dear you don't want little Brody to go thru that. You are in my prayers.

I have tears in my eyes, just reading about your situation...I can't imagine living it, although, I have had to, several times...I went to the same vet for about 30 years, until he retired (I mourned him, like he had died, instead of retired), but he always gave me the best advice about these things...When I was really young, I ask him when you knew it was time, and he said, "when they don't wag their tail, anymore"...So go w/your gut feelings, and watch to see how much he really wants to be here, or not...If he doesn't mind being here, a little sickly, for a while, that's o.k., but you'll know....I know your friends at YT will be praying for you to be comforted and at peace w/your decisions, as you make them...God Bless....

You and Brody are in my thoughts. It breaks my heart to read your words. When our Rodak was nearing the end, he just gave a look and we could see it in his face that he had had enough. I feel your love for Brody in your words. I believe in miracles and hope you and Brody get one.

I am so sorry to hear about Brody. I know the time you've had has been extremely special and you have given him a superior quality of life and will continue to do so for the rest of his days. I pray his days will be filled with love and joy...cherish your time!

I'm sorry about Brody too. This is an unfortunate thing to happen not just to you but to anyone. And I would be devasted just as well. Brody will always be there no matter what, even in spirit. We're all here for you.

I am so sorry about Brody. My Dixie also had congenital kidney failure and sadly passed at 6 months. Her Bun was over 400. I did take her to a nephrologist and he thought he could help her but she had too low of a kidney function. He told me he had many yorkies in his practice that were doing fine on medicine and fluids. He said they could do well if they had 25% kidney function or more. Sadly, Dixie was at 17-19%. I don't know if you have tried a specialist but thought I would share my experience. I do know that when Dixie's time came there was no denying it and we let her go. My heart goes out to you and I will keep you all in my prayers.
