There is only ONE name for them, they are Yorkshire Terriers. The word "parti" refers to the color, not the breed.

Traditional or Parti, this can be the hardest part. Finding that breeder is not always easy.

I'm sorry,I did make that post kind of confusing. I realize the Parti is a Yorkshire Terrier, in that part of the text about names, I was referring to the Biewer.

Okay..wow! After reading every post, my head's spinning:doh:

I don't know ANYTHING about either the parti or Biewer...but I consider my girl a purebred yorkshire terrier although she doesn't meet the color standard. In fact, I actually find her color prettier than what the standard calls for :)

I find a lot of the non standard colors to be very pretty and feel it's a shame to DQ a dog on color alone. I love the ones with the dark faces.

Hi, I am a new member from the UK. I am a Yorkie owner. we do not have the colours of the parti yorkie in our breeding lines....which I have found to be a confusion, as you have them in the USA. My dogs come from the long Streamglen kennels ancestry lines..but I have never had a litter of parti colours?

It's really very interesting to read this thread....

We had someone from England posting that they had some surprise parti pups in their litter. Below is the link to the thread

Since parti color yorkies are denied registration in europe, it's possible that any unexpected parti litters are kept quiet like, they were in the U.S. prior to AKC's allowing the color to be registered.

I agree that there isn't any difference in Biewer Yorkies and Standard yorkies except color. The standard Yorkie group seems to have been selectively bred for one color and the Biewer was selectively bred for another color. The color gene is in both breeds. My Possum is an AKC standard parti yorkie but wouldn't he would meet all the color requirements to be a Biewer as well?

AKC not accepting any more new breeds this year

The clubs representing the Biewer (Terrier) have applied to AKC for acceptance. To date, the Biewer (Terrier) has not been accepted and will not be this year. AKC is not accepting any new breeds for the rest of the year. I am sure the clubs will apply again next year but there is no guarantee of acceptance. In the meantime, we will love them and enjoy this really great breed.
