For the same reason half the comments in this thread were brought up...hurt feelings and urge to defend something. Sometimes comments are just statements of facts that most are already aware of...yet some will always see them as a challenge and feel the need to respond in defense.

Yep...made as a passing comment, a mere statement of fact based on observations that have been there since day one...not meant as a 'challenge'...like I said, it's a pretty commonly known fact/concern, not a theory.

However, it was kept going here... that prices being seen were not that high...I provided links proving otherwise.

Like I said, the high price tags often seen on Partis is nothing new and pretty much common knowledge. It's something people have commented on since day one. So I'm not sure why it's so shocking to see it brought up in conversation or why it's so offensive to some.

Wow I thought parti was just another color of the yorkie just like all the colors of the dachshund, they have so many colors even the piebald I have one and he is adorable... I have also seen the parti yorkies and they are just like a regular yorkie except white w/ different colors ... that is the only thing that is different, I don't see why a certian color would make it a totaly different breed... it will still act like a reg yorkie ... just like my piebald dachshund he still acts like a dachshund...:p

Yes you are right, the parti is a color, not a breed. They are still AKC registered yorkies.

When you began your research and buying your foundation dogs, did you have them DNA'd to make sure they were definatly Yorkshire Terriers before you registered them with AKC? I was just wondering how you know?

I don't know what sort of DNA test you are talking about - as far as I know, there is no definative test to determine the breed of a dog.


And, in my posts, I didn't mean to offend anyone, I'm just not convinced that a Yorkie can be any color than black/tan blue/gold and those color combinations. Maybe I'm just a purist, but to me, the color defines the breed. If I saw a 'dalmation' that was black with brown spots, my immediate thought would be that it's not a dalmation.

I hope that makes sense.

I just ask because I recently as many others have become intrigued with the the Biewer. During my research I am finding so many different things and titles, (names) for these beautiful dogs. The parti is being allowed to be registered by AKC so I am wondering how you can authenticate a parti yorkie as being a pure bred Yorkshire Terrier before you register it or breed it. I guess my question is how did you know you were buying the "Real Thing"?

Buy from reputable breeders and buy from known parti lines. I try to buy from people who DNA their sires and dams, and then I DNA the pup I've purchased to verify parentage. :)

I know, because the breeder that I bought them from was one of the people who helped to get the parti color to be recognized by the AKC, and they did the DNA testing.

How does anyone know that their yorkie of any color is purebred? They trust the breeder.
