Update on Peanut

The vet said Peanut probably wont need Sx. He said that he should be fine if I start him on all the supplements and limit his jumping, and make sure he stays at a good weight.

I went to Petco and I found the "Salmon oil" with omega 3 and 6 and its in a little pump thing!! I just gave him some in a teaspoon and he licked it up LOL.

But OMG does it smell!! Now his mouth smells hahah.. Oh well I guess I will have to look foward to fishy kisses for now on!

Sorry to hear about Pnut. You were right all along. But grade 2 isn't that bad. I was giving Ark Naturals Oil to Uni before, and yes it stinks. They have fish breath after that. At first she liked it, then she didn't care for it. So I put it on a piece of bread, mixed in cottage cheese, she could still tell it was there and wouldn't eat it. Now I feed Wellness and it already have omegas added into it, so i don't bother with the oil anymore. What food are you feeding Pnut? I forgot.

I am feeding him natures variety Prairie. Well he gets a vitamin and his Cosequin, so a little fish oil wont be too bad!! Maybe I will give him the fish oil at night!! =)

LOL! My bf refused to let me continue to give it to her. he is so very sensitive to fishy smells. You can check the ingredients on the food, and if there are omegas in it, it will say.

No I checked, nothing in his food!! I will just it to him at night.. It doesnt smell that bad!! LoL.

The vet gave me pain med.. He told me to give it to him for 2 weeks. After that he said the pain med is good for a year.. he said to keep it on hand.. Well how will I know when he is in pain?

I fed Lady Prairie for quite awhile, but my vet still had me give her extra fish oil. She said that commercial food doesn't contain a therapeutic amount of omegas. Same thing with food that contain joint supplements - again, not enough to see a benefit. I add Cosequin separately, too, per my vet.

You know, personally I wouldn't give him any of the pain meds. If he's only grade 1 or 2 I doubt he's in pain. If he lifts I think it's more of an annoyance, you know what I mean? If he's in pain he would be moaning, crying, not wanting to play, etc. I don't see any reason to give meds if they are not really needed.

Yeah I agree. Well at least I have it, just in case.. I hope his Cosequin and his Fish Oil with kick in soon!!

Sorry about Peanut. I'm in the same boat. Gunnar didn't show any signs what-so-ever, but when I took him in for his shots in Dec, the vet said he has LP1 in both knees but it's a little worse in his right. I was shocked to say the least! He is a jumping fool too. Don't know how I'm going to stop him from doing that. He weights 7.8lbs. so I think he is bigger than Peanut.

Aw.. Yeah thats the same with Peanut he has it in both but the right is worse.. The vet said his is 1-2 grade. All we can do is give them the supplements!! And TRY to let them not jump!!
