| ![]() LoL. Peanut is my little scared baby. He is scared of a water bottle when it cracks.. He is scared when I point my finger at him and flick it with my thumb... to the point where he will go hide and shake some where.... I have NO idea where that came from The vacum, but not the broom Fireworks Thats pretty much it for now

| ![]() Daisy is scared of nothing except thunder. Gatsby is scared of cooking smells. When ever we cook meals that are a little smokey he runs up stairs and hides in the Yorkie Club House (a space behind a futon that us humans can't easily get to) to shiver in seclusion. Aggression is another issue. Gastby is aggressive towards anything new outside. He will bark at garbage waiting to be picked up, Christmas or Halloween decorations (those with motorized action are the worst), any litter moving in the breeze. Daisy is not aggressive towards anything except the vacuum cleaner when its running; she attacks it so fiercely that we have to put her in lockdown when we vacuum unless one of us can hold her. ![]() ![]() |

| ![]() My 10 yr old , Calli is afraid of the rain, thunder, firecrackers, or any other loud sound similar. She knows when it is going to rain, before it starts. She shakes. One storm, she dug through the drywall in the basement and was hiding. I feel bad for her. |

| ![]() Buddy used to be afraid of being outside when he was a pup. Now, he is the ruler of the neighborhood! He used to hate rides, now he has a spaz attack if you say "ride" because he knows he gets to go. I think your baby will adapt. Just a gentle introduction to things and situations to get acclimated. |

Banning Thread Dictator Donating Member | ![]() Excellent thread! Yorkies are always the smallest thing in the room, so I think it's natural for them to develop a fear of things they don't understand. It's part of their survival instinct and is actually a good thing. You don't want them investigating snakes and cats and big dogs on their own. That's been one of the biggest challenges I've faced trying to train them. In agility, Eddie was terrified of the teeter-totter because it made a loud bang when it hit the ground. He never really got over that, I think because I babied him too much at first. He's also afraid of fireworks, flopping fish, unexplained noises. ... With Jillie, I've tried to not only expose her to new stuff, but to watch my own reaction when we encounter it. I don't make a big deal about it if I see she's afraid. She sees I'm not afraid, so she gets over it. We're practicing walking over incline boards now, and she's shown some fear. I just pick her up, place her in the middle and let her walk down. No reward for the fear, but a big reward of treats when she does what I want her to do. A trainer once told me not to reassure them by saying "It's OK" when they act scared. She claimed that the lesson the dogs get from that is it's OK to be scared. I'm not sure I believe her, but it's worth keeping in mind as you're reassuring them. I always ask myself "Is it helping?" Often, my answer is no. With a flopping fish, I think I'd just matter-of-factly remove the fish from their view and not say anything. The dog would learn that I've got their back and will take care of the scary stuff. I don't want my dog sniffing slimy fish anyway, so there's no need to waste my time training them to accept it. Good luck!

I can't control him after that he jumps at the window trying to get them to stop.. he will bark uncontrolablly... and I can't calm him down,, so I put him on the floor of the car until he calms down but he just keeps on barking like mad... it drives me crazy ... so I try not to take him out with me when it rains,,,, or when I do take him I always pray that it won't rain today... ![]()
