| Is your Yorkie your protector? Tobie really surprised me a couple of days ago. I knew he was a momma's boy but apparently he doesn't like anyone messing with his mommy. LOL. I was teasing my husband about something and he chased me into the living room. I laid down on the couch with my feet in the air because I knew he was coming to tickle me and I HATE being tickled. He started tickling me and of course I was shrieking and trying to get him to stop and Tobie jumped up on my chest and started growling and biting at my husband's wrists and hands. He wasn't showing his teeth or biting very hard but he didn't like it very much. LOL. It surprised me because I didn't think he was the protective type but it made me wonder what he would do if someone was really trying to hurt me.

| Bella Mia will protect me to the end if she had to. She acts like she is a huge dog and does everything she can to keep me safe even if I dont really need it. Sherman Tank could care less...he is such a floppy goofy puppy!

| Yep!! I have a protector also. Prince will snap out of a deep sleep to keep his daddy away from me. He's not aggressive...he just barks enough to let his dad know that he is watching him. Too funny!!

| Fancy will wake up out of a deep sleep if she hears someone come in through the front door. (Daddy works late sometimes or if he is just getting in from feeding horses) She will jump up run to the end of the bed growling and barking. She has taken off after him snapping before! She likes him though and will nap with him every once in awhile so I think its just because its dark and she cant see anything.

| Mrs. Laynee is the same way. Anytime anyone comes near our front porch she's barking and growling or on my lap, or when she knows somethings wrong she will immediately run in front of my boys rooms and stand guard barking at them. And i'm not sure why but for some reason my girl is frightened by anyone of color.?? I had some people come from the light company into my house a few months back and she literally tried taking his hand off when i went to shake it??? Does this happen to anyone else?

| Jack is the protective type too. He is not only protective but jealous! He gets jealous if me, my husband or our daughter is showing any type of attention to the cats. He will start barking. My hubby and I were playing a few days ago - hubby was play spanking me and Jack started barking at him. When my hubby and I kiss, Jack will start barking and try to get in front of us. He'll put his paw on my face like he's saying "you can't kiss him, only me!" Too funny. Jack will also wake up out of a dead sleep if he hears anything and starts barking like a maniac to warn us. It was bad last week when we had our first real amount of snow. The snow plows came out and he was up all night barking every time he heard them go down the street or in the driveway. It was kind of funny (although I was dead tired last Monday at work - lol) and I am happy to report that the big bad snow plows did not harm us in any way. I'm sure it was Jack's barking in the middle of the night that kept them away. LOL

| I think both of mine would haul butt, if they thought there was imminent danger around...However, since I live alone, I can't be sure...I just know when a really loud airforce jet flys too low and gets noisy, they hook'em up to the backdoor, waiting for me to open it lololol.... |

| Kaji is scared of his own shadow and tries to hide in the bushes if people are coming, but.... if someone approaches mommy when she is vulnerable (asleep) he steps up to protect me. If I'm asleep on the couch and my older brother comes over to poke my side, which I hate, Kaji growls at him which wakes me up and alerts me to the danger. He also scared a friend of mine that was visiting. I gave her my bed and Kaji and I slept on the couch. She had to go potty in the middle of the night so of course she had to pass the couch. Kaji let out a German shepherd type growl. She froze and put her hands in the air and said, "I just wanted to go to the bathroom." It was the funniest thing! The other night he growled at something going on outside. I don't know what it was but he let jumped out of my lap and stood in front of me growling with a fixated stare. We never found out what made him go into "Super Protector" mode.

| Jackson's a protector, sort of-ish, lol. For example... when someone knocks on the door or walks in the door, he barks like crazy at first. But if I'm not home, my parents tell me he doesn't do that. So I guess he only guards the door when I'm in the house. Or if he's startled by someone (he was sleeping and a stranger walks in or whatever) he will bark a loud alert type bark. But, if anyone hugs me or touches me or whatever, he doesn't care, lol. He doesn't do anything because I let him know that the person hugging me is OK. I wouldn't want him to be like that.

| Cordell is a definite protector. He carries on worse than the Great Dane or any of the others.... and he tries to "bite" (never actually connects though...) if anyone comes near me while he's on my lap! LOL!

| Yeah, I am almost sure your little Toby was trying to protect you ! One time, my mom was pulling my arm ( just jokingly) and my little dog, Vinny, started to bark and growl at her! And when she stopped he stopped! I was suprised too! I read in a book that Yorkies are good guard dogs; they can hear noises we can't, and they will start barking to let you know. If your dog is healthy and loves you a lot, he will almost surely try to protect you! Loving Owner Of Vinny |

| The first time at the dog park, I was hold Hot Rod and crouching down when one of the other breed dogs came close towards me to sniff me, well Hot Rod did not like that and he started to growl. My little 4 1/2 lb (at the time) furball was telling him that I was his and only his mommy.
