| ![]() Thanks, I guess I wasn't clear. IF you qualify for that line of credit now, could you use it say three months from now at 2am if an emergency came up? Would they need to call someone in an office somewhere for approval first?

| ![]() Yes you could use Care credit it is the same as having a Visa except you don't have to pay interest & you only use it for vet care, It was being advertised at UT earlier this month when i was there. I think getting a card & saving is the best way to go if you have to pay for motels & all the other expenses in case you need to go out of town can get costly. i am thankful that i could afford mine but i would hate for it to happen to often.

| ![]() I don't have a fund specifically for my sweetie, but I am quite comfortable and look at pet ownership like motherhood. If I wasn't/could not be fiscally prepared to handle any and all emergencies or otherwise for my little one, I'd not undertake such a responsibility. This is why I don't understand why people who have too many children, or more pets, than they can reasonably afford! |

| ![]() I have used Care Credit for other reasons, and as long as you pay it off within the time period, you are fine... I thought it was 18 months no interest, and found out afterwards that it was only 6 months ![]()

| ![]() I had a yorkie about 5 years ago and she got hit by a car. We took her to the vet and her bill was so much we couldn't pay it. I was young and didn't have a job to pay the bill myself and my family didn't have the money to pay either. The vet's office wouldn't even work out a payment plan for us to be able to keep her. Long story short, we lost her to the vet's office. I don't know where she is now & it bothers me alot. I know she's alive and that helps a bit. When my boyfriend and i got Ella we were financially stable and that helps when you have a pet of your own. I don't have any probs. paying for her now and it's wonderful. I really do know what your saying when you tell people to put some money back for their baby. The loss of a pet can be very hard.

| ![]() I agree especially with my situation right now. My Yorkie is missing. Searching for a missing pet takes a lot of hours and money. If it wasnt mainly for the members here in YT I would not know what to do! Even if its saving $50 , then next month $25 . even if you skip a month. But remember to keep saving. I had carecredit and it saved my yorkie's life several times taking him to Emergency Vet Hospital. When I got my first Yorkie , we were doing very well financially.Had a few snags here and there but things always got back on track. I added another pet.... within a few years the economy went in the toilett and so did our business and my husband got laid off. You can't predict the future. So please dont think people should not get pets if they dont have a certain amount of money just for their pets. You never know, life changes in a blink of an eye and accidents happen. I am glad this thread was started. A few dollars here and there can make a big difference. Gen |

I too did some research on pet insurance and found that there were a lot of exclusions so did not purchase the insurance on my first two dogs back when they were puppies 9 years ago. Then, I looked into it again recently after my vet suggested i get it for Teddy and came to the same conclusion and did not take a policy out. It is certainly good advice to have a set aside fund for your pets. Just the other night, Barney hurt his neck and we went to the ER vet at 1 AM. His little outing cost $175. Thankfully, he is alright.
